Someone hit my driver side wheel - what could be damaged?

Yesterday I was stopped at a red light and some guy thought he was great at initial d style drifting and hit my driver's side wheel. He slowed down enough so the impact was probably at around 10KM/H. It was his front bumper head on straight into my wheel. I felt the impact and my car just nudged a tiny bit. My car's quite dirty so haven't cleaned it to see any damage. Looks like just the wheel have a scrape. What else can be damaged? Suspension, alignment, control arms?

What should I have the shop check for? Thanks.

I would take it either a dealer with a good alignment rack or a good alignment shop and explain to them what happened and let them scope it out..Obviously someone who you know and trust…pod luck with it..S

Something similar happened to me in my 2007 Acura TL. The dealership valet hit my front wheel with another customers car and bent the rim, tye rod and control arm. My car got hit at a rolling speed, however my wheel was turned when hit which probably made it worse. The dealership was unable to fix my car and they ended up giving me a brand new Lexus for 3k. My wife who is an attorney used to specialize in defending car dealerships and when the GM received her card from the valet he knew it was game over. I hope you have better luck than my car did. German cars are made much better than Japanese cars so hopefully you are ok.

how does it drive. Do you notice anything different from how it drove before the accident. Like others have said the most common stuff is the rim since point of impact and the tie rods. I would drive it on normal city roads and hwy and feel it out see if the car pulls at all or the wheel is off center. If it does either you have hidden damage. Also if you have a vibration at hwy speeds probably a bent rim.

    Wheel bearing
    Wheel repair or replacement
    Alignment

Any or all of these things could be screwed up. Take it in and let insurance take care of it. Any way, it's not too big of a deal, but it will be more expensive to fix than you may think.

Did you get his info? I'd be surprised if he only hit your wheel and not your fender/bumper or door... 10kph impact is significant enough to cause damage.

You have to be careful. There's a lot of stuff on the front end of these cars that is cast aluminum and it cracks as it doesn't really bend when impacted. So when my car was hit, they did an initial inspection at the body shop but it had a bit more damage when the wheel was removed and they could see all of the stuff behind it hid previously by the wheel. Some of the cracks were pretty small around bolt holes where components are attached to one another.

Also, I recall a different Audi-certified body shop saying Audi requires the steering rack to be replaced if a car takes a shot in the wheel.

The point I would stress is take it to an audi-certified body. This way they will be familiar with your car as they likely repaired a number of them and follow Audi requirements for repairs.

Not trying to scare you, just make sure it is very thoroughly checked out.
