For the Cyclists... New roof racks on my B7 S4 (PICS)

I really didn't want to put racks on this car but I got sick of folding down the seat and putting my bike in the trunk. I looked at the Yakima and Thule roof racks first but I ended up going with Whispbar. IMO they look cleaner than the THULE and Yakima options.

Nice. I hate racks also and throw my bike inside the avant but it is a pain to put the sears up and down. Does that rack remove easily and quickly?

Have always used racks, Yakima, if need be they are on or off in less than 2 minutes. But with often 2 bikes and / or 2 to 3 sets of wheels racks have always been the only option. Which is why I miss the Avant. Avant + Racks = Ultimate
As far a skis, 2 to 4 pairs don't fit well inside. Regardless it's always been about the damage. If you ride 4-7 days a week racks are the only option. Sooner or later you end up ripping into your interior. Not an option with Recaro and a bitter lesson learned long ago in a Volvo

I haven't tried to take them off yet but it looks dead simple based on what I saw at the shop who installed it.

Ive been contemplating it for a year now. I typically ride by myself, so folding the seats down to get to the trails isn't that big of a deal. This winter I have been running into a problem trying to get 4 guys and 4 snowboards into the car. It can be done, but its a total pain. Still haven't pulled the trigger but I think about it all the time.

Ever consider a product like the Seasucker https://www.seasucker.com/shop/mini-bomber/ They always have a booth at the bike race they hold downtown near me and they seem like a great product. Always adversiting it on an A6 Avant and even had them on an RS7 this year. I have never used the product, but like i said, they seem great. I just fold my seats.

I had Whispbars on my A4 and they were great. Much quieter than Thule bars I had experience with before. Would definitely recommend as well.

On the S4 I just modified the attachments and fitted to current B6. I wasn't about to buy a complete new system and have an older incompatible system. Still have to fabricate a front bar air dam but that's cheap, less than $40 in lexan and fasteners.

I have the Thule Aeroblade load bars on mine. Really quiet and I think they look pretty nice too. This is the only picture I have though and you can't really make too much out.

What size bike are you all able to fit in the trunk? I just bought a 29er, haven't had time to test-fit it yet. I'm hoping I don't need to get a rack right away.

Seat height seems to be the limiting factor.

Very nice! My buddy just put a Yakima on his new S3 and it looks bad ass. Hell, I don't ride and would put one on my car. LOLOL.

I love racks of all kinds.

I've used Yakima's Q Towers on several of my previous Audi's and have absolutely 0 complaints. But I decided to splurge this time... Whispbar FTW!!

(Slight difference: I believe OP went with the "Flush Bar" system as opposed to the "Through Bar" system as I chose just so that I can fit a Skybox along with bike racks this summer)

My a4 which was used to carry my bike for Trail usage. Sorry for the very poor picture, I still love this car. Though compared to my B7 S4, its a bit on the slow side.

I have OEM racks that I bought for my old Avant, probably 10 years old. I only put them on to haul bike, etc. (skiis fit fine in the back, with split seat folded down). They are not the quietest or sleekest, but fit well and are reasonably quick to put on or remove.

Funny the difference in preferences. I also love racks of all kinds. I'd have to agree the whispbars are probably the sleekest. I went with Thule aero feet and bars with echelon 518 fork mounts. The quality is fantastic, they are very robust and quite quiet for me. Not silent, but pretty quiet.
