Audi A4 B6 - Regula Tuning Body Kit Project

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi All,

Having owned my B6 for over 6 years I thought it was time for a change so I decided to start looking at what body kits were available. That's when i came across the aggressive looking Regula Tuning kit ( and yes, I know that to an Audi purist this is a big no no ).

I searched the net for pictures of this kit but mainly just found what appeared to be photoshopped images from the manufacturer. I decided to take the gamble and buy the kit anyway, overall i must say that it's probably the best fitting fiberglass kit I have ever worked with.

That aside for the benefit of anyone else in the same predicament or if anyone is just interested I have put a site together documenting the entire process from getting the kit through to the final install.

    .:: Audi A4 Project ::.

I hope this information will be useful to somebody out there.

    Feedback is always welcome.

    Cheers,
    devious_a4

At least OP knows that this approach would not be received well here on AZ and took the time to do a writeup on the installation process and did a decent job at getting the fitment right. Everything I could say has been said before on similar threads for body kits that do not look like they were intended for the B6.

Besides the body kit, car looks very clean OP. Wheel fitment looks good as well.

Nice man, also a long term B6 owner here ... had it since 2008, so six years as well. I can appreciate the refresh. Love this car and would be willing to do the same. What motor/trans are you running?

He has a 1.8T. You can tell by the black trim around the window frames.

Are you worried about exhaust gasses building up behind the bumper? Heat or anything like that seem to be an issue?

Have to say the prep work was nicely done. As far as the kit goes, I now want to punch a baby in the face. That is all.

Haha YES. The work done was executed greatly but man that kit... A USP conversion or S4 conversion would have looked much better. Having the non-USP front and rear I could understand why you wanted the change but I'm not a fan of the kit.

Nice work but Form Follows Function. I can appreciate the amount of detail and execution but this kit looks like it belongs on a Q5 or Q7. In relation to the B6 which is a visually round, curvy, voluptuous ( lol ) body design. This is sort of an ADHD amalgamation... B7, RS5, Cayene all morphed together.. " NO ".. The Regula is a completely different style and generation so it doesn't flow. Well fitted and all but your line of sight as you look over the car gets interrupted. I'm also commenting from an artistic background and profession.
Perhaps on the next project you may want to consider designing your own. Not that difficult with the current available software.

    Cheers

i feel like they were going for the RS3 look.

def not my cup of tea on a b6 that has the opposite body style. on top of that, the grille has an odd shape with squared corners that alone throws off the look.

OP, i would have personally gone with sportec, or even oettinger or one of the others. this one is a bit much. but to each his own.

lol. Wheels in 1st post are photoshopped. That's why it looks like he is pulling off 20's like a boss.
It's quite nicely done, but photoshopped nonetheless. (Correctly use the word "nonetheless" at least once today: Check)

Also, I don't see this car getting on a flatbed without some major damage. Better not park in a tow away zone, like...ever.
That said, great detail work in getting it to look fit right. The manufacturer of the kit should be hounding you for permission to use the photos (and basically your entire website). Nice work.

So this proves that considering most of us do not like the end result, we all appreciate a professional looking result and the amount of work involved.
So OP gets +1 for effort and all but -5 for style.

It's actually refreshing to read a thread where the feedback is not in favor but flame suit was not required.

OP is an aussie and from what I've seen, their style is definitely a little different down under. Maybe it looks better in the context of their cars.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll try to respond to all the questions in one post.

I'm running 19's, and yes the first picture in this thread is photoshopped. If you check the site out you will notice in the gallery section there are pictures of the car stock, with the kit installed and a few tweaked ones (all of which are labelled).
I'm am looking at upgrading to 20's but i'm just not sure which style to go for yet.

The engine/transmission is 2.0 FWD CVT

As for the concealed exhaust, i have made some slight adjustments (just need to update the site) so that both the fumes and condensation do not go all over the rear bar. Below is a picture of the custom exhaust attachment that i made. I have painted it black so that it cannot be seen and seems to be doing the job.

moyenecorniche: I do like the idea of designing my own kit but was not aware of software that could assist? Do you have the name of the software, i'd really like to have a look.

and finally, there is no chance at all the the car can go on a flatbed, in fact i struggle to get into most driveways. Here is Australia the minimum legal ride height is 100mm at a point 1 metre back from the front axle. The car currently is 105mm at this point. I currently don't have air suspension but it's definitely on my wish list.

    cheers

So is that 100 metre at a point 100mm aft of the front axle ??

Seriously .... I assume you meant the lowest point 1 metre back is 100mm or is that as long as 100mm falls within that 1 metre length ..." Well allrighty Then " !!

I don't know offhand of specific software but I recall a contest on European Car pub which had readers submit their cad designs of their carts or wish list. Some were quite difficult to distinguish from real photographs. But I'm afraid you may need to be on a Mac platform.
At the moment I'm taking a break from building a Telecaster in figured walnut. Had enough of the router and it's high pitch.
I'll search later as it's something I'll need in class.

Cannot be less than 100mm within 1m of an axle. I had a quick hunt around and found the details below:

I personally like this kit however would have done a different color setup. Is the cross bar on the grille permanently attached or can that be removed? I plan on doing this front with a b7 rear maybe a DTM setup

On the front bumper it would be possible to remove (cut out) the centre section but this means that you will not be able to keep the crash impact bar shown below:

You would also need to patch up the fiberglass so that it's not noticeable in the spot where the centre section was removed.
