    Converting Delphi Alternator to Hitachi

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So my Delphi alternator caught fire and melted the control plug and wire, not a huge deal, as I thought I would figure out the connection of the Hitachi once it arrives. Well, It just arrived and the Hitachi alternator has a two control wire plug. L & DFM. Do I only connect to one terminal or am I missing a wire

    Help required?

The plug is physically the same on both alternators. Both are 2-pin, and both only have that 1 wire connected. Blue with white stripe?

Nothing complicated with moving to the Hitachi, you just need the one B7 style water connection that travels downwards and connects to the upper oil pan. The water connection that goes upwards and attaches to the black pipe remains the same.

Not sure. I won't be able to check until this Saturday - sorry for the inconvenience!

So I just did some research and it seems L is the fault lamp connection. DFM is something to do with Ecu contrls

Sorry I'm super late. Wire is definitely on the rounded side of the connector, not the flat.

Thanks. I'll double check tonight after work. The Hitahi alternator is slightly smaller than the Delphi, so was a breeze to install. The cooling pipes were a bitch though.
Might actually be able to drive the car soon. I have owned it for 5 weeks and driven it for one...
