    18 Inch Steel Wheels

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I am a relatively new member and have a question..Is there a regular steel wheel available that would fit without spacers..I am thinking about a certain look for winters with the small centre cap hubcaps and just black steel rims..If any one is aware of another application that would bolt on I would appreciate it…Thanks..S

They do but I would avoid them. They are usually cheap in quality and may not even fit over your brakes. I know Costco sells 18" steelies but many have complained about them as per customer reviews.

Why not just buy Alzor aluminum alloys from ECS for $380 for the set?

Not to mention the added weight which transmits road shock to aluminum control arms, bushings and suspension components. It is ill advised to go to steelies on our cars. I know it's popular and in vogue but some trends are worth staying away from. Audi does not offer a steel wheel winter package and for good reasons.
You could go to a refurbishing supplier like midwest wheel and tire ( i think that is the correct name ) and buy reconditioned Audi or Mercedes wheels in the size and offset you want for relatively low price.

2nd that - don't cheap out on rims. Nothing worse than an expensive car wearing cheap shoes. Lots of inexpensive options on which to mount your snows. Better still, use the OEM rims as winters and get a nice set of Summer rims.

Thanks for the replies to my question..I have looked at Alzors, but its more a look I was interested in as opposed to frugality..I have experience with some non oem wheels on a winter setup that didn't end well on my other car, and was just looking for a bolt on steel wheel…Thanks again…S

I'd say steelies on the front, and some stolen OEM wheels from another car on the rear.

LOL, the only thing better would be steelies on the passenger side and stolen OEM's on the drivers side.

Don't forget the 4" square fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view. I actually saw that in an Audi in Middletown CT on the way to work. "Deplorably wretched"
B5's maybe and earlier generations could get away with steelies but not today and especially with the multitude of options available.
Hartman's also has a discounted discontinued section in its wheel selection. I think you can still access it thru the main site @ achtuning.com

Nice set of 18" peelers from an A4 around 300$ would be perfect. Nice and strong.

Another vote on the Alzors.... great quality for the money. Zero issues on my car and these wheels have been used by hundreds of members here without issue.

No... Steelies are always heavier than Magnesium / Aluminum wheels when comparing exact size. Reduced unsprung weight is always a plus.

I'm with the OP. Steelies with a beastie set of snows look better. The best part about steelies is they don't collect snow in the barrels and become unbalanced like the alzors or oems do.
