That's quite a hefty premium for some red trim and some gray colors that have jumped the shark.

You can get those colors on a lot of Audis. For example, the Daytona is a Q5 color. Now, if they used colors that are truly unique and limited to this car, then maybe, but that's a big maybe. They should take a cue from their big bother, Porsche, and at least add a few performance upgrades. Then, call it "special."

Personally I think that Nardo looks like crap in real life....
Flat colors just don't do it for me.

Yeah, I don't think so. Daytona is standard color for the RS5 and I don't get the fascination with Nardo Grey. Looks like clear coated primer. The red calipers and those wheels can also be had w/o a fancy overpriced option, so it basically comes down to Audi Exclusive stitching and leather interior.

You'd think they would spec the sports bucket seats with the nice quilted bolsters on a "sports edition" and then maybe offer something sporty to go with it, ie, lose some weight or add a better exhaust, maybe even add a plaque to say its a limited edition.

All Audi are doing here is spec'ing up a standard RS with options no one would normally tick and then selling it on at a premium.

It'd be so cool if they came out with a light weight package for the RS though. Rather than just a packaged up "audi exclusive" for the model year end "special model" it'd be great to see them offer one with a moonroof delete and replaced with a carbon fiber insert, some exclusive light weight wheels and the rear seats removed and replaced by a cross bar to stiffen things up. Maybe some lighter seats in the front too... That would be something that would convince me to trade in my current RS.
