So first off I'm completly new to Audi..I just traded my vr4 for a 2001 audi a6 (automatic tiptronic)with a stage 1 package. So I'm not new to the tuning scene, and I know my way around a car. All maintenance done. First off guy bought it a few months back and says hes pretty sure its stage 1 with tune(previous owner claimed it was done)..anyway I can check to be sure? Second off I wanna go stage 2 or 3...what's the basic route to take? I wanna be around 350-400awhp with around the same torque..so what's a complete list of the parts i'll need..thanks in advance guys and gals!

Search dude. You'll find all the details within about 10 minutes.

But for starters: You'll want to a built 6 Speed Manual to run that power. ~$3200 installed. Then you'll need K04 turbos, new fuel setup, tune, full exhaust and all the other engine & electronic fixings: ~$7500 installed. Then you'll need proper brakes: $2500 installed. Then you'll need suspension, control arms, bushings etc: $2200 installed.

Then you'll wonder why you didn't just buy an already tuned 400AWHP Stage 3 B5 S4 for $12k instead :)

    Cheers.

Wait, are you saying that 3 owners ago someone supposedly put in a stage 1 set-up??
The biggest red flag here would be if there is no paper work showing what was done, how does "The first guy" know for a fact what was done to it and can you trust him?? Do you have the paper work that shows the modifications??
It is my understanding that if the ECU has been tuned to run as Stage 1, and then it was serviced by a dealer they will refresh the ECU to stock settings. Have you done all the maintenance, or was it done before you bought it??
If you are going to go to a stage 2 or 3, I really feel that you want to make sure every component on the car is in it's best condition. Last thing you want is to floor it on the freeway and have a valve, or bearing, or cam shaft shatter.

Or if you want that power, buy an RS6 for the same price as the 15,000$ in listed upgrades, and keep the A6 just in case!

Why is it running K04 turbos on a stage 2 tune?? I'd get a proper tune ASAP. Are they Borg Warner K04s?

If you already have injectors, then you just need a MAF to get a proper stage 3 tune loaded up.

Are they no-name brand K04s? If so, expect them to fail quickly.

i get wary when I look down the side of a motor with my flashlight at the turbo and it is brand new and shiny. I don't walk, I run away! Like most things, when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Purchasing a car is most often the second most expensive purchase one will make in their lifetime. Be fully informed before you dive in head first. I am not trying to discourage OP. However, OP stated they were completely new to Audi. Jumping into a transmission swap with mismatched mods might not be the best way to ease into Audi. My stage1 2002 A6 2.7T 6-speed has been a great car, but I still drive around with a fully stocked tool box in the trunk JUST IN CASE.

Yes I know...and its a stage 2+ right now until the rest of the stuff is bought for it. And they're black billet ftg turbos...Those are decent turbos right?
