Would you choose an RS4 as a daily in 2015?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
There are a lot of cars to consider, cars that came after the RS4 and cars that are likely(some less likely) to come very soon. The S4 can be had for a little more than a used RS4 and provides comparable performance and better fuel economy...and def better creature comforts. There might be an RS3, RS4 and the new S4 will be here within a year (I think?!?).

Given what you know now and the cars that are available - If you did not already own your RS4, would you consider buying one at this point?

I'm looking at one with 5x,xxx miles to use as my daily here in Florida.

    Thanks!!

    Jeff

I just bought mine about 18 months ago, and would do it all over again. It is an iconic car. The only one of its kind (high revving V8, AWD, sedan, manual tranny), is a true driver's car, and looks awesome inside and out.

You should go drive one. If it doesn't speak to you, then wait.

I'm just a new wave owner (less than 30 days) so my input ought not count as much, however I will just say:

Yes, motor. Yes, sound. Yes, sexy. But what really gets me is that I've seen a total of 7 B8/B8.5 S4's on my daily commute just yesterday and today. The subtle rarity and uniqueness is second to none IMO.

Should I post the one I'm considering or should I be worried someone will snake it? ;)

I bought mine new and have not found anything comparable from Audi that I'd rather drive. There are some fun cars like the S4, S3, S6 etc, but nothing that offers the same experience that the RS4 does. An RS3 might be interesting if and when it comes, and there's no indication that the B8 RS4 (or future generations) will come here - the RS5 took that slot according to AoA.

Here's a great video review comparing the various RS4 model generations, with a good comparison of the B7 and B8 -

Why would you want AWD in FL? If you want an MT V8 sedan in same price range, then go used E90 M3. Lighter, with much better weight distribution, better steering feel, and... wait for it... RWD!

^ I cross shopped M3 and RS4 in FL. M3 was great, and RS4 was better. M3 was a bit like a really well machined utensil, whereas the RS4 had instant character.

    An extra 400lbs + Numb steering + Understeer = Character? :)

Buddy at work had an E90 M3 and we swapped for lunch drives a lot. We both agreed that, snow aside, the M3 wins.

I have owned mine for 2 years and that is saying a lot. Cars usually don't last long as I get bored easily. There really is no replacement IMHO. This car is`iconic, beautiful, and fairly quick. I have owned many cars that are faster and higher HP but none that get the attention of the RS. The car is a beast, plain and simple. Do it, you will never regret the decision!!

Yes, without a doubt. Its the looks, the sound, the high-revving V8, the AWD and the 4 doors. Honestly, the S4 rear end compared to the RS4 is no contest. Game over. RS4 wins.

With that said, if you drive an RS4 and it doesn't give you "that" feeling...probably not going to have the same sort of affinity as the rest of us.

And did I mention the sound...and those hips...and...love this car.

Bought mine over the summer and was daily driving my 2011 Cayenne Turbo... once I got the RS4 I put the CTT in storage until a few weeks ago. I find the RS4 very rewarding to drive. So much so that I find myself choosing the RS4 over my GTR at times.. (not all the time) Love the high raving V8 coupled with the APR SC makes for a very quick car. I would do it all over again...

RS4 all the way...sold a 997 turbo last year as the RS4 was more fun to drive. Can't find too many 6-speed cars these days...especially with AWD...not much competition out there.

He said that the bumper has actually been off the car. I think he's referring to recalls though. Apparently the wheels need refinished, the tires are so-so and he's trying to get records to see if it's been carbon cleaned.

I'm in Florida, too - so this will probably work out. I've bought some cars long distance and I'm over that.

I'm going to remove the link from my other post - jstahmann, please do the same - Got to thinking and don't want someone to steal it ;)

Drove a bunch of cars (M3, M5, S4, S6, 911, a few Mercs) before deciding on the RS4, which is now my DD. Nothing else really "did it" for me the way the RS4 does every day. I'd make the same choice again today.

Not wanting to beat this to death. But even with my rs being almost 8 years old, having 90k on it and it being high maintenance lately. There still is not a new car out there that I want. Granted, I made much more coin in 07 than I do now.. haha
