Heater core my guess. Must have air in system. Have you had any cooling system work done recently

This is my guess also, you are hearing the coolant running through the heater core, this can happen if the coolant gets low enough possibly or if there is air trapped in the system, either way it takes air in there to be able to hear the water move.

Sounds like it needs bled out.

I had this sound once when the car was cold-soaked overnight and I drove the car the next morning. Pretty normal, I think, unless it happens all the time.

    water gushing noise

Normal. I started a thread about this earlier. Also asked the service advisor and he said its normal for Audi and VW.

By the way, when this was happening, I noticed my coolant level was below min when the engine was cold. I topped it up to just below the max line and I haven't heard that noise since.

Or could be that your heater box drain is plugged up and the water isn't draining. Thats if the A/C is running for defrost modes or the auto feature kicks it on. If you turn off the HVAC and slalom the car you should be able to hear it slosh and if thats the case its your A/C drain.

But most likely heater core issue. Does it happen at idle or when your acelling from a stop?

I actually have to take my car in for service for its 5k service and my coolant is below min line when its cold. It was right at the full mark when i bought it. Thats unacceptable for only 5K miles loosing that much. I can see a little due to evaporation.

Closed system should have no evaporation, there is a leak somewhere, have cooling system pressure checked.

does it happen while ac is on as well? i would check the cooling system as well as the ac refrigerant level. had this happen to someones car and after i noticed the refrigerant level was a little low, i recharged it to the correct level, and noise went away.

My AC is off....it is air bubbles in the coolant flowing thru the heater core.
