    S3 recommended tire pressures?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
The dealer insists that PSI's should be ~35 on the 19" wheels/summer Conti's that came stock on my new 2015 S3 but the sticker on the driver's door beam recommends 44 PSI all around which I presume to be Factory recommended? The service manager showed me info on his dealer/computer site but all the info applied to A3 and there was no S3-specific info. I think the ride's fine when I increased to 44 PSI and pretty sure my mileage has improved though I haven't checked manually. Manufacturer max rec on tire sidewalk is 50 PSI.

What do others typically run on their cars: dealer vs. factory rec's?

    Thanks for any advice.

Can't go wrong with door placard for stock wheel and tire rec

Sidewall pressure is for cold air number not to exceed usually for mounting the tire.

Rule of thumb 40 psi max to bead a tire if you must go over that then do not exceed sidewall pressure.

Check the type of tire you have and refer back to the PSI needed for max load rating
    http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...jsp?techid=195

44psi seems extremely high since you tire most likely has a 50psi max. I'm not on this section a lot so best of luck with your research.

The A3/S3 Owners Manual has a complete list of normal and max load tire pressures for the various size and type of tires. The pressures on the door label are max pressures.

If you have 235/35 19 then it won't hurt to put 44 psi cold which would equal about 50 warm.

Remember that is recommended for max fuel and load efficiency

The door sticker is maximum recommended "fully loaded" tire pressure. Check your Owner's manual for "normal load" tire pressures for your size tire.

    S3 recommended tire pressures?

Just been through this with Audi Cust Care and the Dealer. Audi's position is to set at 35psi for COMFORT.

I run the 44psi living in NJ to provide extra sidewall stiffness if contact with potholes and the like. It also handles better and better fuel mileage with the increased pressure.

I had been running 44psi all around. Just switched to the 39 psi front/36 rear suggested for normal use in the manual and now I'm wondering if I should go back. 44psi would make the car handle at its maximum potential?

Damn, i've been always scared to inflate to 44 PSI....It's currently at 40 psi, and looks bloated and hard as a rock!

Yeah I went with 44 because of the plate inside the driver's door. For whatever it's worth, I had all seasons put on my wheels for winter and the place that did it filled those to 44 as well.
