    MMI hacks and tricks?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys,

Has anyone attempted to hack or update their MMI? I have a 2011 S4 but I would be interested in hacking my MMI to be more like the interface in the 2014's. I have read that this is doable, however I would like to hear from someone that has done it.

Any cool or interesting suggestions are welcome! Also if any local guys would like to discuss offline over beers or a coffee please PM!

    Cheers,

I am not sure I wanna do a full swap. I understand that you can just flash it / hack it

Something like this. I don't want to replace the head end. I do want the improved UI.

no, it's a different unit entirely. The stock unit is upgradeable to a point, but you will never get the new software with google maps and everything.

both the 3G and 3G+ in the new B8.5's MMI units run a variant of QNX. if your handy with a soldering iron you can solder some wires to hook up the TX/RX lines on the service port to an RS232 USB dongle and play around with the console. helps to have a friend who works at Harmon Kardon too!

also you can play around with the hidden menu as well (no soldering required, only a VAGCOM i think).
