8spd cvt vs 6spd sports auto

Hi, I am about to buy an Audi A5 and I have noticed some have an 8spd cvt auto and some have a 6spd sports automatic. My questions are:

What is the difference? And does a sports auto differ from an S tronic much?
Also does the sports auto make the fart sound eveytime the gear changes? Or is that just on the S tronic?

You are actually looking at 3 transmissions I think.
6 speed is the DSG or dual clutch automatic (Stronic)
8 speed is 8 speed automatic with a torque converter (Tiptronic)
CVT actually has no speeds. It is continuously variable transmission.

DSG shifts much quicker. It has a shaft with the odd gears and a shaft with the even.
8 speed can't handle quite as much power as the 6 speed
CVT can't handle any power, but gets good mileage.

Stronic makes the fart the most, but my tiptronic with highflow cat and full exhaust will do it on upshifts at full throttle.

See this is the strange thing, the S tronic I thought was a 7 speed?

Then I've seen 6 speed sports autos which I don't understand what these transmissions are? Are they dsg or normal autos?

You are correct on the S-Tronic.

There are only three transmissions currently offered on the A5 according to Audi Australia's website.

-S-Tronic automatic
-CVT/multitronic automatic
-The 6-speed manual gearbox

They may have offered a 6-speed Tiptronic (torque converter) automatic in the past.

That's the 6-speed Tiptronic with torque converter, aka traditional automatic. It shifts slower than S-Tronic, doesn't have launch control, etc... Will not fart.
