Integrated Radar Detector??

Hey all,
I saw this a while ago in a car for sale in the b5 s4 classifieds, and it supposedly a radar detector above the steering column.

Any body have any info on it?

Probably a one-off thing, I seriously doubt there's a mass produced radar detector designed to fit there. If I were to guess the detector isn't actually mounted there, but just has wires run to extend the display/buttons to there since there's zero room behind that trim panel.

I've been eyeing one of these for some time. Not for my A4 but for my Lexus GX460, which is my road trip car. It's just that I can always seem to find other stuff to spend the money on...

i feel you bro, i actually just came across a deal for a beltronics pro300 for $170 shipped. i jumped in that thing so fast. wh do you want to go integrated? standaloned have the smae performance for like half the cost.

That was my friend's avant (sold it this summer). He bought it with the radar system and display already installed. It was a very old K40 system though, I assume the install and display were done many years ago.

No info on who did it or anything like that. I have a V1 and have been contemplating taking a concealed display apart and putting it into the mirror, like so:

I've seen people integrate them pretty well themselves since radar detectors are illegal here in Virginia. I wouldn't be surprised if that was just a weekend project or something a shop did professionally.

I just like everything hidden away and hardwired. No cords or stuff floating around. I probably could disassemble a standalone if I was really motivated.
