Question Motoza tune vs Gonzo tune(GTS)

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Sup peeps so Ive decided to finally tune my car but i can't choose between Motoza and Gonzo(also known at GTS now)
Ive searched for reviews and all but i want opinions maybe even advice on whats the best tune

So the Motoza tune pretty good running for $349 for the stage 1+ Doing 235hp max
i need injectors and a diverter valve upgrade and other recommended mods
you can do the install yourself thats the best part i dont have to pay!

The Gonzo tune you can tune it yourself also no extra cash wasted
runs $450 features are launch control n some people have twp step
This is the stage 2 also 235hp BUT all you need is upgraded injectors? wouldn't my Engine or ECU Fry?

Correct me if I'm wrong but a stage 2 is nothing but a stage 1+ with the o2 sensor coded out for use with a hfc or tp. Dave at motoza can still code out that o2 sensor if you ever plan to go one of those routes. I highly recommend motoza as I have had it on two b6's. Just make sure all maintanence is up to date before flashing the new software.

What would maintenance being up to date have to do with loading a tune? I'm going motoza soon and this would be some good info.

Stage 1, 1+, 2 or whatever all change between different tuners. I believe APR is the only company to use the plus to specify injector upgrade. I'm pretty sure stage 2 for some other OTS tuners means upgraded injectors. Generally they're all pretty close.

OP, no matter which tuner you go with, the recommended upgrades should be done. You can do either tune without needing to upgrade those parts but it is recommended. The only thing that needs to be upgraded is the injectors but it would be smart to upgrade anyways.

I think he's just saying it would be smart to get the maintenance done before tuning it. Just to try and get rid of the weak points in the system.

Performance wise, the lack of a boost gauge (a must for even a stg1 tune), the factory side mounted intercooler, and the cat being bolted directly to the turbo.

Go with whichever tuner you like best, with the stock turbo being a shared limitation, all the brands/tunes perform nearly the same.

little of the topic but might help me too.

Im interested in motoza too, but from what i have read is really hard to get in touch with them other than email, question for the ones that have already gone with motoza, how did you solve a problem if you had one? did you had to wait for email back or there is a number where you contact?

he's definitely a little slow on the email response. I think there's a number but I'm not sure. Email him now and ask. He'll answer any questions you have. With a stage 1 or 1+ there's very little that can go wrong. I'm a satisfied stage 1+ customer and Dave's been very helpful with questions about my future upgrade path.

I'm running a frankenturbo and Dave was more then helpful with every question I ever had. He may have been a little slow for some people, but the quality I received in the product left me more then satisfied.

Last I heard he was hiring more staff to take care of the slow responses.

I searched around and found some threads about putting a FMIC on a K03 some say it has benefits others say its pointless basically like putting an air intake

I have motoza stage 1+ and have been very happy. I had some misfires in the beginning that was not related to the software but Dave helped diagnose the problem and everything works flawlessly. Responses are on the slow side but that is the only compromise, and last time i talked to him he was hiring extra help so it shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Dave will answer any questions you have and would definitely recommend him.

Thanks guys Im with Motoza then!! i wonder what happened to Gonzo did they sell the company to GTS? I heard good reviews about the customer service and about the tune now they
seem like they are going down hill.

A chipped K03 runs on the edge of its compressor map, meaning is blowing a lot of hot air and running rather inefficiently, so a quality intercooler is critical.

I went with Dave at Motoza also. He has been very, very helpful with a neewb like myself. I have the 1+ tune and he has made two changes to the tune since I got it and his turn around has been like 2 weeks. I think that is very good considering you are getting a guy to look over your specific logs and make adjustments to your specific tune. Think about that. I would rather wait a bit and know he is taking his time to read and understand the info rather than adjust a couple sliders on a SW program to increase this or that and send it out.

Recently I asked him for suggestions for getting a little more out of my stage 1+ and he said add a fmic or go wmi (currently I have 034 hfc, forge 008, k&n panel, stock turbo).

I told him I wanted to go wmi because I was not sure what bt I wanted to go with, and I could do turbo and fmic together. I ended up with Snow wmi kit and last week he sent me a new tune adjusted for the 50/50 mix (around 110 octane) and I will will see how it goes. I tried to install the wmi kit yesterday but could not find a spot for the pump. I will be posting to other forum for advice on where to mount it.
But, as far as Dave and Motoza, I am very happy with his work, and his responses are well thought out and detailed when communicating with me.
