Anyway to play iPhone through B8 Audi

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hello so I have a 2009 B8 Audi with Prestige trim.

I am wondering if there is any way to play my iPhone through the car. I know I can talk wirelessly through the car but I cannot play music through my iPhone through my car.

Do you guys have any idea on how to make this work?

    Thank you!

Blue tooth through the MMI works good for me. Or the direct MMI connection in the glove compartment but mine is not the lightening connector so I use an older iPod for that.

Which iPhone do you have? Audi makes several cables for the AMI/MMI, or like dennisA4 said buy a Tune to Air blue tooth adapter.

I have the iPhone 5s, so the glovebox does not work as it is older.

How does tune2air work if someone minds describing it to me.

    Thanks!

Hi just chiming in. I purchased an adapter for the older iPod/iPhone cable (30 pin connector) that came with my car and it works great with my iPhone 5s and 6. It has to be the Apple brand. I had a few cheap ones from eBay and they didn't work

tune2air plugs into the iPod connector in your glovebox and then connects to your phone via bluetooth. The sound quality is perfect, you can play third party music apps like spotify and sound cloud and you don't need to open your glove box and plug your phone in every time you get in the car.

phone calls still go through the original ami bluetooth connection like normal, so the tune2air doesn't interfere with taking phone calls

You can get an adapter for the glove box cable that will go from a 30 pin connector down to the iPhone 5/6 port. They're easy to find and work extremely well.

Thanks, I was thinking about this too but if I buy the tune2air I don't have to worry about plugging it in and out every time I wanna look at my phone or anything as I use the maps and stuff on my phone a lot.

I have a 5s as well but instead of getting an adapter I actually picked up an iPod classic used on eBay downloaded a few thousand songs from my cpu and now it sits in my glove box all the time

Only the Premiums have this one though; the ones with the glove box adapter just get a filler plate where our aux jack is.

I finally broke down and ordered a Tune2Air last night. My main purpose is to stream Pandora/Spotify because my new cell phone plan has free unlimited streaming music. How are guys using the Tune2Air in this way liking the functionality?

I used it before getting the new touchscreen unit and it worked great. Using T-mobile huh?

I bought Tune2Air last week for my 2012 with MMI and it works very well. I also decided to take advantage of my cell phone plan's decision to offer unlimited music streaming (T-Mobile). It's worth the price!

Ha ha! You got it, K! Making the switch to T-Mobile from VZW. The unlimited streaming music was a big draw. I might just cancel my Sirius/XM if streaming via Tune2Air works out.

I might have to pick up one of these Tune2Air units. I have a similar car to OP and the glovebox cable with the Apple lightening adapter no longer works for me and hasn't for quite some time. Not sure why, just stopped working one day. I've bought a couple new cables from Audi and the 30pin adapter is from Apple. :-/

That's interesting. I am without my Audi for another few days but will give it a try as soon as I get it back. I got the Tune2Air over the weekend courtesy of Amazon.

I got my Tune2 Air yesterday (yes, Sunday?!). Plugged it in and literally 30 seconds later whole set up was done. It performs like it suppose to – great. Pandora runs without any problem, iPhone 6 music plays without any issues. The phone is connected to MMI and all phone calls go through MMI, not through Tune2Air.

I picked up an AMI 30-pin extension cable from a local dealer (great deal at 12-bucks). Now looking for the best way route from the glove box to a Pro-Clip mount which is on order. Already checked and all the AMI functions and bluetooth phone functions work perfectly.

    I have an iPhone6 with a non-Nav MMI.
