Hopefully buying a 2006 Audi A8 Quattro on Saturday... Anything I should know??

Hey Guys,

So I am hopefully buying a 2006 Audi A8 Saturday. The only other Audi I have owned was a 2006 Audi A4. Being new to the A8 world, is there anything I should before I buy it? Anything I should ask or check out before handing over the cash? It has the air ride suspension (been replaced), 4.2L V8, 127,000 miles, winter package, and more. Is it a good deal? Below is the ad:

price seems a little low for an 06 . For on the 2006 didnt have a belt i believer it was the chain motor already , i could be wrong lol. he says air suspension was replaced which is nice. see what bags were done . if both front and compressor were done your good there. rarely have i seen a rear bag go. bring a flat head screw driver and pull the right rear trunk trim and look at the large motor towards the top of it . If its black and silver -bad ,all black -ok , all silver - good

Thanks, he said he replaced the front ones on the air suspension. He said he had a timing belt changed but maybe he meant chain? But then again I thought the chains rarely needed to be changed.

What is the motor behind the trunk trim for? Should I stay away from it if its all black?

THE 2006 was belt driven cams so it does have a timing belt. Not a lot of repairs seen in the Carfax-that could be a good sign. Crawl underneath, check CV boots....make sure all functions work on the car-check all the windows make sure go up and down well with no noises. Scroll through the MMI to check air suspension settings and make sure car responds to changes. Looks like a super clean car and looks to be a good price. I'd pay an AUDI dealer to go through the car in a pre-purchase inspection. Sometimes they can find things that you might catch that are expensive! Just bought a 2008 from an AUDI dealer and had over $8000.00 worth of work done to it (covered by an extended warranty) within the first35 days of ownership and about 4000 miles since purchased. They are very pricey to repair if something goes wrong....I've had an 2006, 2007, and now a 2008 A8 which I really like with low miles-about 57k now. Front struts just replaced for the second time since new. But the pre-purchase inspection is a great idea to have done before purchase and can be used as negotiating factor if the car checks out.

...the motor referred to is for the trunk-power up and power close on the trunk-had mine done $500.00 with the same repair visit. I love the black! I had the same color interior on my last one-the kids called it "peanut butter". Didn't think I like the interior color but it grew on me over time.

It sold :( But I ended up buying a 2005 loaded A6 instead (with the V8 :) ) so It ended up working out. Thanks anyway for your help

GOOD luck to you...the A6 is super nice, too. The 4.2 is sweet! Guess you'll have to move to the other forum now-best of luck with it
