    IBEX Experiences??

Dealer tried to sell me IBEX treatment inside and out for my new S5 for cost of $1,700. Was going to do it since car will be outside - at least for now, however, upon researching it I found mixed reviews from people - it not turning out well (and ofcourse there are many many reviews about how the cost is a total rip-off). But some said there were swirls after the exterior treatment that wouldn't come out easily and some said the leather ended up with a shine and a smell. So now I am afraid to try it at all - despite the outrageous cost.

In the past I have used Zaino Bros. car polish (on my Lexus SC). Is IBEX a similar type of treatment but only needs to be applied once in 7 yrs?? And can that be true? Seems too good to be true and too expensive to be wrong and could it end up ruining my interior or exterior? So I decided no, however, I am wondering if others have had experiences - good or bad - with IBEX??

I'm sure it's cool and works great, but I wouldn't trust the dealership to touch my paint. A kid getting paid 9 bucks an hour doesn't care about your paint or your interior surfaces, especially when he's got 10 other cars to do that day. It's just more revenue for the dealership, quality work or not.

What I would do is tell the dealership to do nothing, not even wash the car. Take her home and research a good detailing company in your area, then pay what you're willing to for quality work from a professional.

I would definitely search for decent local detail shops, since they work for their own (revenue wise, reputation), plus for the most of time those people have the passion for their work. And you can always learn something while the treatment is being performed.

Appreciate the responses that have confirmed my instincts - don't let them touch her!! I already have her home (for 2 days now!!) and don't intend to turn her over for any treatments. Will be looking for detailers in my area - well worth it to develop relationship with a trusted detailer.

Exterior paint treatments and interior leather or fabric treatments are 99% profit margin for the dealer. There is no magic....
