    Hi
Looking to buy a ami system. Seen a few on ebay. Some say that it doesn't come with the connection.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the ami system a straight swap with the 6 cd changer?

Yep, I'm trying to source one too, about a month ago one went for $225. The only ones up now are in England, and they want ~$500. You can split the connection if you want to retain the changer. Edit: I see that you are in England. Uhh, make sure you have 2g high, or it may not work.

Is the 2g mmi high the one with the colour screen and with sat nav etc? Not the one with the red screen?

There's loads in England going for £100 but without any wires or connection. That's why I asked if its a straight plug and play with the 6cd changer harness?

Yea, the color screen one. You need to get the correct model number as well, check out this site. http://a6retrofit.com/ami-retrofit-a...sic-interface/ It outlines everything you need. As long as you meet the requirements, it appears to be pretty much plug and play. Want to send me one of those cheap AMIs? :)

I checked ebay.co.uk, and this is the only listing I found for one that would work for you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Au...item2c88d992f5

Ok cool. How do I know what part number I need?

Yeah pal I don't mind sending you on if you find one that suits you :). Always good to help a fellow member. If you just search ami audi or ami interface in ebay they should all come up.

I thought all the ami's are the same haha

Nah, they are different. The C6 uses optical connections, which are expensive, but produce high quality sound. The ones in the A4 and Q5 and whatever don't use optical, they use a traditional data link. The part number you are looking for is 4E0 035 785 B. Good luck, I'm looking for one too. The lowest I have seen one go for on ebay is $225, but right now they are all around $500 USD.
