    A3 3.2 S-line Vs. A3 2.0TFSI

I'm looking to buy either a A3 3.2 S-line or A3 2.0TFSI Quattro (not FWD) and I was looking to get opinions or facts on what you guys think/know, as far as performance that is. Stock figures for the 3.2 are 5.8 (0-60), 15.4 (0-100), 14.8 (1/4), As for the 2.0T 6.3, 17.7, 14.9. NOW, knowing that the 3.2 (VR6) may be turbo equipped via JHM for about $6K does any one have any specific times with this kit installed, with a moderate tune. In addition, the 2.0TFSI also has a few K04( may go larger) kits offered my choosing would be APR. Any times for that? Another question that comes to mind is reliability. Which one would require less frequent maintenance.

I like the VR6 as well, having driven both. Turbo on the VR6 is going to be expensive to get big power and reliability. If you are going for low cost power, then an ecu that is factory configured for boost is going to cost less to build and be more reliable.

so...not to sound like lacking testosterone but can you really use all that extra HP. Not a fan of racing on the streets and punching it on the on ramp gets boring. Freeway speed will lead to an inevitable ticket. Are you taking it to the track? or Friday night quarters? My issue with the TFSI and FSI engines is carbon collection. I am not a fan of that engine. why not concentrate on the corners instead of the straights. my overall choice with a deep pocket is 3.2 with HPA turbo and then let APR tune it. as for the corners, ohlins coils and a set of nice track shoes. if you go 2 T then APR is great if the new owner straightens out the mess their in. good luck

Any real DSG issues with these cars? My buddy said the r32's had timing chain issues and DSG issues but I can't find much in reguards to the A3 3.2Q. Thought they are basically the same thing.

I think that timing chain issues were from earlier VR6 engines, not the MK5 version. There was a limited campaign to replace a specific production range of the mechatronic unit, but my car did not qualify and I haven't had any real issues. I did have to replace the dual mass flywheel.

There is no replacement for displacement. A 2.0 will never sound as good as a VR6

My previous car was an 2008 R32 Golf. Great car, ample power, great sound ..............until a jerk came onto the wrong side of the road and wrote it off :(

I went out to get the closest car I could to it. Thought about mk6 Golf but decided on an MY11 S3.
Very nice car. ... Did I say turbo lag or lack of low down torque ..yesss.

If they still made the 3.2 V6 I would of got it, but they don't and I wanted a later model plus a change to an Audi Sportback S3.
Learning to live with the power loss low down but once you've had it for 6 years its hard to go from and is taking me a while to adjust.
The V6 had go instantly from a press of the throttle, 2 litre Turbo... ... ... go
You will need to drive both to see what suits your driving style. If you want a later model you are stuck with the 2L Turbo.
