Hello people thanks for reading ! I have 2001 s4 after it sits for 5 to 10 hours it has a hard time starting . Takes about 5-10 cranks then once it starts it bogs for about 2 mins then after that it runs fine no check engine light or faults . after it starts after 10 cranks or so it smells like gas very bad also/

when i get it started after sitting , after 10 cranks . i can turn it off ( after the 10 cranks then it starts ) and turn it on and it starts right up just one crank

already changed fuel filter pump is good too

if your help fix my problem ill send you money paypal

My guess would be fuel psi bleeding down (pump, fpr, inj) or cts.
There are only 2 things needed to make an Audi work properly - Duct tape and WD40. If it moves and it shouldn't - Duct tape. If it doesn’t move and it should - WD40.

well it can be a few things for sure
fpr bellsing fuel back to the tank.
injector leaking and bleeding down into a cylinder ( mist likely seeing how you smell gas when it finally starts- filling a cylinder with fuel and bleeding down the pressure.)
you can pull your rail up and cycle the key - DONT TRY TO START . cycle a few times and watch to see if an injector is leaking

Had the same problem a few months ago... Installed a check valve after the fuel pump (in the trunk) and solved the problem. Fairly common, especially if fuel pump is after market that doesn't have an internal check valve.

so dont check for leaking injectors ? i took out all spark plugs they were all dry my next step was taking off fuel rail and check injectors for leak.

what is a check valve never really replaced anything on the fuel system before besides the filter Thank you , Phil

There is an internal check valve in the pump that holds psi in the system.
If it is bad, it will bleed fuel psi and not be ready to fire when you hit the key.
In my exp, they usually start right up on the 2nd key cycle though.

Rob has it nailed. The factory fuel pumps had the return check valve built into the pump. If the car has an aftermarket pump, the check valve may or may not be there. It is easily added to the return line at the lid of the tank (under the trunk carpet, pass side)
