Replaced torn Diverter Valve with DV+, new fault code appears

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I had an old diaphragm DV (revision B)

Which was causing the following fault code:

    000665 - Boost Pressure Regulation P0299 - 002 - Control Range Not Reached

The diaphragm was badly torn and obviously that was causing the issue.

I replaced the torn DV with new GFB DV+ last week. The response on the gas pedal and acceleration is much better than before. However, now I have a new fault code which comes up all the time:

    008801 - Boost Pressure Control Valve (N249) P2261 - 008 - Mechanical Malfunction - Intermittent

Why would this be happening after replacing the DV with DV+ and what could be the problem? Any ideas, what to log or look for?
    I have full VCDS version.

    Reset the computer, perhaps?

N249 might have been used too the old DV.

I have cleared the fault codes but they re-appear. What do you mean by "reset the computer"? Disconnect the battery for 20+ minutes?

If you clear the code and it comes right back, there's a problem. Check the electrical connector and make sure it's fully seated.

It does not come right back, so it's not a "hard code". It re-appears after driving for awhile.

Did you have the exact same problem with DV+ and the same error code?

    Also, is N249 = N75?

NO, n249 is something different....It is a little black plastic thing close to where the DV is....

I was getting the EXACT same code, replacement ($40-50 OEM?) and no more code.....

Your link shows two different N75 valves with different prices. Which one is N249 then?

^^^ One is OEM, one is aftermarket. You need to find your exact model and verify that part is correct for it.

Both are the right part/number....depends if you want to pay the premium for the 4 ring stamp or not. I'd go with the cheaper one, that peirburg or w/e company makes a lot of the OEM Audi stuff anyway and it is always high quality.

06F906283F is for my 2.0T at least....Not sure what kind of engines they have in South Africa.

N249 is your diverter valve. The N75 is the little three way valve center front of the ko3 assembly that keeps the waste gate from opening on itself. It also has an electronically controlled solenoid. You'll notice it in the center of all the short vacuum tubes.

GAP has the OEM N75 for around $35, compared to ECS at almost $60.

    N249 = Diverter Valve (solenoid)
At idle, this opens to recirculate compressed air back into turbo to prevent build-up and surge (between shifts).

    N75 = Wastegate (solenoid)
Controls wastegate inside turbo to reduce exhaust side pressure which then drops impeller speed, effectively reducing boost to a acceptable level (requested by the ECU)

The N80 is for EVAP emissions and is totally unrelated but fun fact is if N80 isn't closing the evap canister fuel gasses can make your mixture run rich. This will drive you insane for 1+ years of troubleshooting.

Reply if this helped anyone understand.

I personally would rather read one COMPLETE thread than 100 of them with no answers. This info is just as relevant today as it was back in 2014. Here's a bump for the latter half of 2022!

What does that have ta do with what I said? Posting the same "question" in multiple 5-10yr old threads, isn't gonna help.. If someone has an issue, they usually "read" over old threads, or start a new one. But reviving one thats 10yrs old, isn't gonna be much help. See how he got zero help??

Can you actually read? They didn't post a "question." There isn't even a question mark in their response. They added value to a 7-year old thread for others that don't have ELSA or erWin access. My generation is a generation of people that actually follow through with things until completion. Yes, I want to read ONE THREAD THAT HAS REAL WORLD SOLUTIONS. I don't want to sit around endlessly reading about peoples' issues without any resolutions. Bickering in an old thread to get your post count up is childish. That's not cool, Bruh. Act like a Veteran Member and start "reading" yourself.

I dont get it, he wasn't talking about you.

    Also , what generation ?

    Because there's 2 :

    - Facebook folks asking the fcking same stupid question every day, because facebook

    - Forums folks, where forum is way better managed for archiving q&a and the forever smartass saying : '' dude use seach function''

I do agree this is annoying, Ive been there, but they are somewhat right, forums are not facebook.

Also for the topic I made a post on B8 subforum about this issue, and Ive fixed it this summer, gfb had to send me a new seat kit.

Btw a few posts back the guys description of the n75 is wrong...
N75 bleeds the boost trying to overide the spring and open the waste gate..
Activating the n75 allows for higher boost. If it closes, and deactivates. Full boost goes to the actuator and opens the wastegate at spring pressure. About 6psi
