All too often OEM components must sacrifice various performance minded characteristics in an effort to appeal to a wide variety of customers. While an enthusiast typically wants better boost response and more power, all while hearing the turbocharger breath, a non-enthusiast may give up these characteristics for a quieter ride. In the case of the factory IHI turbocharger, a turbo muffler, or Pulsations-schalldämpfer, is positioned at the compressor outlet and is designed to reduce engine bay acoustics.



The APR Turbo Muffler Delete replaces the factory muffler with a straight, uninterrupted piece, CNC-machined from billet aluminum and anodized black. To ensure proper sealing, APR’s engineers took a two-part approach. A Viton seal is included and forms a seal between the base of the muffler housing and the new piece. With the seal in place and the outer flange installed, the muffler delete tube screws into place, forming a full, uninterrupted path for airflow.

It goes right on the turbo outlet. So if you jack up your car, you should easily be able to access it.

Im a proud k04 owner, but what warrants this a better upgrade over the eurocode trufit hoses that came with the manifold adapter AND hoses that is currently on sale for $169.95?

This doesn't work on the K04 unfortunately. Only the OEM turbo. As for the Eurocode part, I don't have any information on it. Sorry!

I know it doesnt work as the flange is a solid piece, however in a cost perspective, I feel its a little much for so little. The eurocode kit comes with hoses that reduce turbulence over the stock hoses. At the same time, these hoses are higher quality compared to the stock. For their price, and I can concur with their claims, they are offering all the same as your adapter does, with the better throttle response and faster spool time thanks to the hoses (as well as an optional HFIP that can be added for more gains). The only differences I see here are the size of the outlet, which is arguable of the advantages of a bigger or smaller outlet, and the summary of your gains is basically engine noise for $150.00.
Now, I am not trying to advocate eurocode, however for the dollar to benefit ratio, I do not see much to any benefits of this.
I would assume that now with a new financier, we may not be seeing as many sales and different pricing now as well. (through credible sources)
Now I am no business man, however I had my fair share of courses involving business and I would just like to hear your take this piece and why it is worth the listed price compared to your competitor. I'm by no means trying to burst the APR bubble, I drank the coolaid too, and I love your products. But sometimes, as many other members on this fourm have, I feel that maybe the price of that coolaid is a bit high compared to Hawaiian topic. :)

It appears to be a well made piece BUT both EuroCode and CTS Turbo include a very similar piece with their 3-piece silicone hose kit for about the same price you guys are charging for just this part, might be a tough sell for no performance gains.

Haha but seriously... I'm not trying to bash APR. As I said, love their products. The only issue I see is where is the justification for cost for some of these things? Like this is basically a noise maker for 150 dollars it seems. The turbo whistle is cheaper and basically does the same thing lmao.

I'm waiting on 2.5 big things from APR. A B8 ko4 update tune, or a GTx turbo for the B8, and their B8 intercooler.

Eurocode's piece doesn't come with that rubber seal/gasket, but it comes with intercooler hoses.

BTW guys, if you want to hear your turbo make an awesome whistle, remove that rubber o-ring that sits under the turbo outlet. Sounds like I have a big turbo or something. I accidentally destroyed mine and now my car sounds cool under boost haha

I'd recommend this or the EC part to anyone with a K03. I noticed a marked difference in responsiveness with the EC piece. Now I did also do their charge pipe at the same time. However, I'm not convinced that effectively getting rid of the "sound box" was the reason for the increased throttle response.

I thought the OEM turbo outlet only had a smaller diameter. I didn't realize it had the slotted vents that can allow exhaust gases to escape. The OEM part is gunmetal/silver in color.

It will increase sounds coming from the turbo, not reduce it. This is on the intake side of the turbo, not the exhaust. The whole "Muffler" thing is probably throwing you off.

The B8 doesn't come with a K04 turbocharger and this doesn't work on the K04. The K04 can have a part like this made, but we haven't done it (others have).

This only works on the stock turbo and replaces part 06H 131 111 as indicated on the first post.

Assuming this gets rid of the awkward sound the turbo makes when you have an intake installed under part throttle/low pressure boosting? I've noticed B8's with intakes don't make that smooth "spooling" sound you get from a turbo without a muffler built in the outlet. You almost get like a flutter/sputter/squeak from the turbo, but under full boost it goes away.

If this piece corrects that and "smooths" out the sound I think it's a great product.

That, and the fact that the picture shows it on the outlet, and that the muffler is on the outlet, and the diagram shows the air leaving, and because the virtually identical pieces from others go on the outlet.

I believe most all VW / Audi turbos I've seen lately do have one. I don't think this part fits though.

I think what people are having trouble with, myself included, is that for 10 bucks more you do get a performance, sound, and visual upgrade from eurocode or cts. 150 bucks for a a sound upgrade is pure madness.
