I need a software driver for Vagcom 409.1 KKL

So i bought this cable having no idea about any interface.

I have no software just the cable, and i am having hard time finding a software for scanning on this cable. It should have came with a cd, but did not. I've even had trouble with this cable plugged into my computer, (cause i have two 3.0 drivers and two 2.0) Windows cant find a serial driver for this. I found a website that tried to make the driver work as a com1,2,3, or 4 port. But computer keeps failing to install the new driver.

If i could find a driver for this cable that would be a nice start.

I assume you have checked out the manufacturer's site for the software? Ross_tech?

You bought a knockoff cable and you expect RossTech to provide support for it? I suggest buying the real Ross-Tech cable.

Also you'll still need to buy a VCDS license for $99 for your third party cable, unless you're using an illegal cracked version of VCDS. Now, I'd suggest finding what chip your cable uses and Googling for a driver. Some use FTDI, others use different chipsets.

You should just be able to download the Rosstech VCDS software off their website
    here:
    http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/download/

Really should have purchased a USB cable instead so you wouldn't have to worry about assigning ports. This is more of a Windows issue rather than rosstech. Look online how to assign drivers to certain serial ports and I'm sure you'll get it figured out.

No you don't need to buy the license. You only need to buy the license if you want to use vcds-light with all it's features (still using your 3rd party interface)

Otherwise, your 3rd party interface will work in the shareware capacity and will be pretty limited, but will still work for basic functionality, like getting codes (partially) , readiness, measuring blocks.

See here for more details. http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds-lite/index.html

If your 3rd party cable still don't work with vcds-light you will need to find an older version vag-com, iirc, vag-com version 311 or 409 was last to work with 3rd party cables.

take apart the obd connector housing(unless yours is clear) look to see if theres a ftdi chip on it.

if it is go to http://www.ftdichip.com/ and download the driver.

the 409.1 cable/software will not work on anything past 2005.5 which use can/hex-can/uds/ect. itl only work on cars with k line and iso.
