    Interior paint touch-up and repair

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is there a way to get touch-up paint to touch-up interior parts? The interior parts chip paint easily.

    Any paint resources for this?

    Thanks.

Duplicolor OEM trim paint is the closest match I could find. From autozone.

I've seen people strip down the stock rubberized finish and spray Plastidip to refinish it. I would expect the same thing to happen in a few years though.

Does that flat paint match the black dash and rest of the interior good? I stripped down some of my center console and was trying to decide what to put on them!

Audi OEM interior Paint : LLS MAX 6PS A1. This is for soul black. For other colours you must ask at the dealer.

Is there a good company for a B6 A4 04 Silver exterior paint? Rock chips on my hood are really starting to get under my skin!

I can't believe nobody has posted this before!?!?!?!?!? This has got to be an exact match of the original soft touch type texture and color that comes from the factory. I'd love to hear a review on it. Here are the other color codes.

    6Ps- Black
    EC3 - light platinum (grey)
    4D9 - indigo
    8C1 - torrone (beige)

Heres a list of more color codes

I just called my dealership to order it, but he said it does not come up in his system and that interior paint is not offered.

I would love to get my hands on this. Does anybody have any ideas where to order it from?

I tried several different Audi and VW dealerships. Non of them could get a reference from the part number. Very disappointed.

They paint it blue or red before placing the sticker on it to paint it black.

Sharp pointed hobby razor knifes. They sell kits at hobby stores and Ace Hardware usually they come with 3 handels a collection of blades and a nice little box to keep them in.
You then use the slimest blade you have to pick up the corner from inside the sticker to pull it off. Best to let the paint cure though.

A regular box cutting blade would also work if you were brave and have a steady hand.

The actual buttons underneath the black coating are blue and red.

free template via corelDRAW 7. Print onto sticker paper and mask sanded plastic.

LLS MAX 015 plastic adhesion promoter = primer Clicky. I hear that certain paints do not, such as soul, which is supposedly 2-part with integrated primer.
LLS MAX 6PS A1 is soul, or black, button paint, the most common. Interior paint key: Clicky
-Use a soft solvent, such as a sticker remover, to remove old paint.

I want to see if B5 paint is available. Their buttons aren't soft touch, and thus, much more durable, and can be clicked/pushed fast. Whereas B6 soft-touch seems to require extreme care/finesse...There's always OG's camo paint

Recent RS4 approach to fixing the problem, using Tamiya paint (high quality hobby and model paint).

I originally planned to not strip the buttons so I just clean the paint off the buttons and masked off other areas. Another handy tip for the masking of the + and - is to buy, again, from the hobby Shop, pre-cut masking tape normally for model cars. I used the 1mm wide version. This should also work for the +/- button on the steering:

    ^masking of the buttons

Sprayed, waiting for it to dry:

Unfortunately, when I peel the masking tape off, the old paint was too old and peeled out together with the masking tape...so I have decided to strip the panel out...this is rather simple involved undoing the torx screws and prying off the tabs.

HOWEVER, the buttons turns out great !

So after cleaning out the panel from the old paint, I repsrayed the entire face plate with 2 coats and left for 2 hours to fully cure.

Putting the buttons back on and re-assemble:

You can tell, from the other original buttons, the colour looks 99.99999% identical and the best part is it also has the same rubberized feel and this paint is harder so it should withstand the daily pressing from driver and passenger.

So I figure the next test will be the headlight switch, and also the power window panels !

    Total time, around 2hrs
Total cost, around $10 GBP for paint remover, masking tape and spray paint ! This is a huge saving over a new unit which can be a few hundred quid !

Where can I get the face plate of the climate control, everywhere I looked wants to sell the whole unit. If that pic shows what someone painted that's a damp good job. I would love to know how they did it.

I would try using Frost Liquid Wrap. It lasts much longer than Plastidip and holds up much better.

I just order two cans from Amazon for $20 shipped. I'll let you know how it works. I have a few worn places on the side of the center console where my leg rubs on it. I will attempt to spray it in place with a little masking and see how it looks. Clicky click®

I get the printing part... But how do you cut them out to use as a stencil? The reason I ask is I just started using the LASER cutter at work to make some plastic cutout parts. It can also cut adhesive paper, that would make it easy to make a nice sheet of perfectly cut stencils.

Hi, sorry for bringing up old thread, but this seems better then creating a new one.

Anyway, I’m looking to fix my interior stuff, as it’s getting pretty white, and one guy had posted a template for some buttons. Problem is, link is dead.
Does anyone still have a template for buttons or something? Don’t really wanna get stickers as it doesn’t look good, rather i’d like to paint it new.

    Thanks in advance
