Question Requesting quick price advice on custom ordered 2015 S4.

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi everyone, long time listener, first time caller... hoping you can help me out before I pull the trigger.

I'm about to custom order a new 2015 since I want something very specific in my new S4. I plan to keep it several years, though if they release the technology package in the S6 in 2016 or 17 S4 I'd be highly tempted to trade-in. I just liked the driving experience in the S4 better and wanted a smaller car.

I'm working with a broker which was referred by a friend and professional financial adviser I trust and have worked with for many years. The broker screwed up a few times not getting back to us so he offered to wave his fee so we didn't speak ill of him. So in theory this should be a great deal. His approach? He apparently works with the commercial sales group within the dealers in the area and spoke with all 14 or so dealers in the Washington state vicinity.

I was honestly expecting a lower price, but I wasn't really sure what's possible. I plan to bounce this off the two local dealers I test drove with to give them a shot at my business since I took their time while making my decision. Here's the spec...

    2015 S4 w/ S-Tronic
    Prestige Package
    Daytona Grey Perl Effect Paint
    High Gloss Black Trim
    Driver Assist
    Sport Diff
Active Dampening - Went back and forth on this, decided I liked to actually feel the change when switching modes.
    Nappa Leather (Black/Magma Red)
    Rear Side Airbags
    Carbon Atlas Inlays
    Audi Guard Protection Kit
    Supercharged Badges
    Audi Care

    Msrp. $65,865
    Audi care. $860
    List Grand Total: $66,725
    Discount. -$2,400
    New Owner Acquisition -$1,000 (I've got a 2013 Lexus RX350, but don't plan to trade-in necessarily.)
    Offer $63,325
    Offer + Tax (8.9%) $69,263

Is this a good deal, or do you think I can negotiate better. The broker has no horse in this race (having waved his fee) so he doesn't care if I shop it around.

    Thanks!
[Edit: Sorry, accidentally cut and pasted Premium Plus when this was definitely Prestige. Fixed above in my original post.]

It's a shame you haven't been an ACNA (Audi Club of North America) member for >6 months, you get 6% off MSRP for being an active member. That is a nice discount off a new car- almost $4000. Maybe your deal is just "ok" for standard negotiations? Try truecar.com, don't they give an idea of what your true price should be? Years ago, I used edmunds.com to get invoice price when I bought a new Ford and got a good deal.

Does Audicare and Audi guard protection kit add 6k to msrp? Because I'm pretty sure that's a huge rip off unless you aren't posting all of the options. I specced out a fully loaded premium plus car on Audi's website and it came to 59,600. But maybe I'm missing something....

I seem to remember reading that with a lifetime ACNA membership (costing $750) the 6% off MSRP discount starts immediately (no 6 month holding period). That's $3951 off (I'm not sure if the discount applies to audicare), which after paying for the lifetime membership still beats the discount provided by the broker by $800 (and you get the lifetime membership!). The New Owner Acquisition still applies. Check with ACNA to make sure that the lifetime fast-forwards the 6 month requirement.

I thought you could only get driver assist with prestige. I'm not familiar with Audi Guard protection kit.

It sounds like you are ordering a very expensive S4 and not getting much help from your broker. I would definitely shop it around to a few dealers and I believe meb is right - ACNA 6% should apply immediately with lifetime membership. That should be the lowest discount to consider.

not a great deal I got 7.5% off ordered car MSRP. on a car that listed for 57665 . placing order today. I am not Audi club member, I did get $1500 for having a lexus 2003 lexus in our family. Hocus Pocus , I played two dealers off against each other, and the 7.5 % off msrp was the number, plus sky high $429 dealer prep fee.(purely for obtaining docs

I would like to think the prestige pkg would come with driver assist, nappa. Seems like they're charging twice.

Yes, has to be a Prestige package. Fully spec'ed premium plus should only be about $58k-$59k. with ADS, around $60k.

That is NOT a good discount and you should be getting a discount of at least 7%. This guy claiming to be who he is should at least be able to get you 10% off.

Mine was $58k and change and I got a little over $4k in discounts. I am not a audi club member but I really should be...my 3rd audi and my first one was 12 years ago!

there are plenty of people who have done 8% to 10% down from MSRP.
just have to be a little ruthless with the dealers.

    x infinity.

every person that's in the market for an S4 will just pop in and start a new thread about their would-be purchase. if all they had done was search the forum first regarding year (if applicable), model, options, features, packages, etc. they'd find their answer.

    p.s. quick search "ordering 2015 B8 S4:"

That's not a good deal. I custom ordered my 2014 Prestige, fully loaded and got a much better deal. Agree with those that suggested cutting out the middle man and shop around at dealers directly.

If that High Gloss Black Trim for $1300 is the TI package, skip that shit since it makes your car look like an A4 S-Line due to the colored matched mirrors. It's played out man, everyone gets it because they think it looks good, but it really doesn't.

Ok, in my haste last night I wrote the wrong package, I have all this in a very detailed spreadsheet so it's definitely Prestige. I edited my original post to fix that. Thank you all for the advice, obviously I can do better than this quote.

    It depends...

    1) Where you buy - Major city Metro area and how many morons on average walk thru the door and pay MSRP. Every area is different. I searched from Boston to DC before I bought my S5 and a number of dealers just plain told me they weren't going lower than 4-4.5%. One even said MSRP, take it or leave it!
    2) When you buy - buying a leftover 14 in Sep 2014 is going to be a big difference vs ordering a 2015. The 2014 will get cheaper as December nears and the 2015 will prob be most expensive in July/August. End of the month is always a good time to squeeze a dealer salesperson.
    3) How you buy- Order vs on-lot car, finance via dealer vs on your own, etc
    4) What you buy- Some dealers sell a lot of S cars, some don't. Audi runs promos like season of Audi on A4s etc and typically doesn't apply to S cars. You might get a first month lease payment comp'd though I forget.

People that get the best deals often leave out the important details. If you're ordering a new S4 right now, optioned like yours, it's going to be hard to get more than 6-7% off of it unless your dealer is desperate or the clientele demands cut rate prices.

    WHAT YOU SHOULD DO:
    1) NEVER work with just one dealer. They love that- you're their captive buyer.
    2) ALWAYS go to the Audiusa.com website (and chug.net) and search for your before ordering. You may be surprised what you find local to you. I found this Daytona Grey S4 with almost all the options you wanted for $64k MSRP at Barrier Audi (you sig said Seattle, WA) http://www.barrieraudi.com/new/Audi/...ac0c2a96e6.htm
    3) If you find cars you like already on dealer lots, DO NOT CAR SWAP using your local dealer. The best price will always be had going to the dealer that has the car. You owe your local dealer nothing except a smile.
    4) If you don't mind putting a few hrs into it, make a spreadsheet, search for a few cars on dealer websites and chug.net etc, call the ones that interest you or otherwise have the car you like, and tell them what you'd like to pay. Record the car/options/price in the sheet and use that as leverage to get the best deal out each dealer you speak with.
    5) Get pre-approved financing from your bank and keep the approval letter for it handy. When you call dealers tell them you're financing is approved, you're ready to buy and no BS are getting this car from them or someone else in the next 30 days. They will start salivating like one of Pavlov's dogs.

That's roughly what I did- I drove 2 hrs to get my car in NJ because all the local dealers in SW CT wouldn't budge on my 2014 S5 when I bought in late Oct 2013. The clientele here just has money and pay roughly MSRP and the dealers laugh all the way the bank.

The S4 at Barrier Audi you can probably get for $5k off with your Audi acquisition discount. You should be able to get a car like this for $59k if the dealer is willing to work with you. If not, keep looking.

    Best of luck to you!

per Truecar, withOUT the $1k bonus cash, you're about average. So when you add the $1k bonus cash back, you're way above average price paid. Take that for what you will.

I do not trust Truecar. They used to be a good resource and then the dealers got in and took over. now they're just a propaganda tool.

Pay Invoice minus 3 percent dealer hold back or shop elsewhere. While dealerships do want to make money they also want to push numbers. Having high numbers gets them kick backs from the brand as the dealer has the honor of selling them.

I was looking at this but they didnt want to give me the deal I wanted. They have since lowered the price, it is semi similar to what you want though I assume you want DSG and new.

, Go back to dealer. you should of got rubber winter mats (4) for interior and rubber trunk mat. The net was a bonus you did not pay for. I got a net as well not ordered. I ordered winter matts they were on my sticker and in my trunk .$180 I think, would have been cheaper at dealer, but did no want to upset my deal

Make sure they are *S4* mats also. My dealer gave me A4 winter mats and I have been too lazy to harass him about it.
