I am pretty much set on upgrading my 2012 S4 to a 2015, and I've been deliberating on color. I want to be done with black for a while...currently on my 3rd black car in a row and I'm tired of all the work to keep it looking clean. Ibis white is probably my #1 choice but I can't find any with the options I want in circulation, and do not want to wait 3 months to build one. So I am vacillating between Monsoon and Daytona. I know personal preference of aesthetics is a major factor, but I'm trying to bring as much logic as possible into the process to help steer my decision. So far I have the following list of thoughts (random pros and cons) for comparing the colors, and I would like anyone with either color to chime in with any relevant commentary: (when I use relative words like "less", "more" etc I'm comparing the two grays unless otherwise specified)
Monsoon:
* Should show less scratches / swirl marks / dust / dirt due to being a lighter shade of gray
* It appears a bit more "bland" compared to the deeper Daytona color
* It is very close in color to various gunmetal wheels (e.g. OEM Audi 5-arm rotors), which makes for very little contrast when running that wheel color
* The lighter shade of gray helps to show the lines/creases of the body in a more pronounced way than the darker gray
* May show less of that residual wash/rain water trail from the window weather stripping and down the front doors below the mirrors due to the lighter shade of gray
Daytona:
* Will show more scratches / swirl marks / dust / dirt due to its darker color, but should still fare better than Brilliant Black. Not sure by how much, though. (I'm most curious about this point!)
* On the B8.5 body the darker gray looks more "business" while the lighter gray looks more "sport"
* It is dark enough to have adequate contrast against bright silver wheels (obviously) as well as gunmetal/anthracite wheels like the OEM 5-arm rotors
* Darker color makes lines/creases in the sheet metal look less pronounced
* Darker color offers better contrast between car body and Alu-optic accents
* Hard to picture the potential of this car when lowered, tinted and with aftermarket wheels fitted because there aren't many out there yet (at least not in B8.5 body style). There are plenty of modified B8.5 A5's / S5's / RS5's out there in this color, and they look great, but the color seems to work a bit better on the '5' body than the '4'.
* Since Daytona is newly a standard color for 2015 S4's, there are less Daytona's on the road than there are Monsoons for the time being. So there is a short-term rarity factor
Are there any other points I should consider?
