Passenger window rolls back down 2" automatically help

Stumped on why this is happening just parked the s4 and while I roll up both front windows the passenger side rolls all the way up and then comes back down 2 inches wtf?

I tried holding the passenger window switch up and then turning off the car immediate but it still rolls back down 2" automatically please advise as I don't want it to rain and then I'm screwed or get the car broken into

    Ps - 06 S4 if that helps

window regulator is starting to get out-of-whack. It'll likely only get worse from here as that metal cable inside starts to turn into a birdsnest

The motor is fighting the regulator to get the window up. When it meets enough resistance (like a hand in the window) it will roll back down a bit.

My advice is to get that window up and leave it there. Once you do, order a new window regulator.

Window regulator design is literally the dumbest thing on this car.

That's pinch protection kicking in. Only happens to me when it's very hot outside.

This. Same has happened to me as well. After a couple more tries it stayed up.

Sometimes when the window sticks to the rubber on the way up near the top, usually on hot days, mine will do this too. As the window goes up gently push the window outwards to reduce the friction and it should stay up.

I've had the same issue before and the same frustrations lol. I did manage to find a way to get it to stop, not sure if i remember correctly but i think the trick is to remove the key completely before it rolls back down. you have to be quick, if you just turn the key to the off position without removing it fast enough then it won't work

Happens when it's really hot out. It's especially annoying when I'm trying to roll up the windows as rain starts pouring down. I notice that if I open the driver door as I'm shutting the car off it won't do that. Since all power to the windows shut off once the door is opened

I wanted to bump this for having the same issue after replacing driver's and passenger regulators. I also get a short grinding or similar noise when I lower my driver's window completely. Any thoughts on the grinding?

My driverside does that, turn the car off then restart and it doesn't do it anymore.

My driver's side does it too, try "walking" the window in, roll it up until you're very near the top and then roll it up all the way, this usually works for me. If it doesn't try increasing the gap in the top part of the window sill, like with your keys or just with your fingers, because doing so offsets the pinch protection.

In the long run, it looks like you may be developing window regulator problems. I've had 4 crap out on me so much so that I've now purchased a back-up window regulator from FCP Euro just in case the one I have on there craps out again. FCP Euro gives a lifetime warranty on all of it's parts and they're pretty reasonably priced I think.
