    Fuel line repair

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need to replace a portion of the fuel lines that run under the passenger side of the car, from the fuel filter to fuel rail and N80. It looks as if mine was crushed as some point by a jack or bottoming out.

Can I simply cut the damaged portion out and slip on a fuel hose of the appropriate ID and length? Fuel line and fuel-line clamps are MUCH less expensive, and seem easier to replace, compared to replacing the entire hard line with one from a junkyard.

    Thanks!

Seams to happen to a lot of people, if you do this make sure to by the correct hose and fuel injection clamps so you don't spring a leak. I wouldn't see a problem as long as it seals. I saw a post not too long ago in b5 a4 section regarding this might check it out.

Not sure the pressures involved but you might just want to cut and flare the OEM tubing and install a piece of your own.

If its to the N80 then that is the Evap line which only really carries gas vapors back and forth. And I did just splice a section of gas compliant line in and secure it with the correct clamps and nipples

that's the evap line, so if it's not leaking I'd likely leave it alone

I was thinking the same thing, Matt. The maximum pressure on that line occurs during an evap leak down test and IIRC that would be just under two PSI. I would just leave it alone.

To confirm, the inner most like is the fuel line to the rail?

correct. the two lines diverge just before the wheel well: the fuel line goes to the inside, the evap line to the outside (or between the liner and the wheel well to be precise)
