anyone able to find an 30 pin to lightning adapter that works in glovebox ?

bought one of those $10 ones on ebay but all it does is charge my phone and wont connect to the car to access my music, anyone have any luck with OEM apple stuff or another brand that actually works ?

Same thing here, ebay adaptor does not work for audio or data. It will only charge the phone.

Bought the apple connector and it works perfectly all the time.

Anything certified by mfi should work. Also audi does make a lightning to ami cable now. Forgot the part number

4F0051510AD is the part number for an lightning AMI cable. This is supposed to be good for audio + video, but it didn't work for me. Dealers in the states said that there was an "engineering hold" on that part number. I bought it overseas and it's a no-go with my B8.5 + iPhone 5S - it's as if nothing is plugged in - isn't recognized by MMI and won't charge. There's also a AMI to lightning with P/N 4F0051510AC (I read somewhere that was not suitable for video), haven't seen any reports as to whether that works on our cars.

I'm using the dealer delivered 30-pin with the 30-pin to lightning adapter - charges, and music works - but I don't get video.

I found the part online for the Audi made lightning to AMI cable but my car came with a AMI to dock cable. I bought a dock extension cable (non-Apple from Amazon) and an Apple dock to lightning adapter. On the recommendation from another member I picked up a vent mounted holder for the iPhone. This system works perfectly. Phone charges and plays music through AMI.

Mine is only good for Apple 4S or an iTouch.. Since the iPhone 5 has a different plug in it's completely useless... I just keep my iPhone charger in the car with an adapter to the aux input under the arm rest... I'm actually dissapointed they don't have a direct USB connector in the car.... Germans!! LOL But they didn't forget the ashtray!! :D lol

The Apple one works just fine. I bought the short 6" cable looking one instead of the plug type because I have a case on my iPhone and it works no problem. MMI cable is a 30pin, the converter cable is 30 to Lightening and everything works just as before. No idea what the OP's problem is... aside from maybe buying a cheap cable.

There's no problem, I bought a cheap adapter and it didn't work, just wanted to make sure that the apple one will work correctly before purchasing one

My setup again, AMI to Dock cable, 3' dock extension cable, Apple Dock to Lightning adapter -> iPhone 5

hmmmm... mine does not work. Bluetooth only works with phone calls... not music. Is there an issue with 2011's? I heard that Bluetooth audio only works with 2013 and up?

BT only works on 13 and up. He was referring to something else.

Tune2 air, and it works pretty well. I have an iphone 6. Slight skipping issue but the iphone 6 works well using an apple 30 pin to lightning adapter. I understand there is an Audi cable that will allow you to plug the iphone 5/6 in directly
