    Hard Bumps in road causing windshield wipers to swipe?

    Anyone else hit a big bump and have their wiper blades go off due to it?

    My wipers are set to auto and when if I hit a big bump in the road, it will set my windshield wipers to go...

    Really bizarre.

    Adjusting your rear-view mirror will have the same effect. The sensor is in the mirror case that's against the window. The bump must be causing it to sense a change similar to how water on the window is sensed. Maybe your mirror is loose.

    Noticed this yesterday on a clear sunny day. I could not attribute to bumps in road (maybe it was) but my windshield wasn't the cleanest so I assumed sensor mistook dirt for rain...

    Happened to me on my 2012 a few times. It was my rear view mirror as well and then i had audi replace the mirror and glass. The mirror part was fixed, but on hard or solid bumps still got the windshield wipe.

    Uh oh be careful. This happened to me before, and then eventually my rear view mirror just fking fell off after being parked in the sun for a little bit. So stupid.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

    I've been having a nagging issue with my wipers. I have a 2013, have had the wiper stop working on me 3 times already. Each time the dealer fixes something different. Control modules, wiper motors, etc... I thought the wire harness was bad and was causing problems but seems like others have window sensor issues.

    My wipers (which I leave in the automatic position) will do an occasional single swipe out of the blue, on days without a drop of rain. I wondered if a bug hitting the windshield near the sensor, because I can only recall this happening in warm weather.

    Happened in my last car which also happened to dent two wheels.

    I avoid potholes and big dips in the road like the Ebola virus in the S4.

    Just dropped in to say I literally laughed out loud reading this topic. At work. This is one of the ghettoer problems I've read on these forums.
