It Finally Happened - Small Crack on Front Lip - Repair or Replace?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So long story short, I went to the local grocery store to pick up a jug of milk and 5 mins later, come back to the parking lot and notice my clear bra on my front bumper has shifted and lifted a little.

Take a look around and notice on the bottom of the front lip that something obviously hit my car and while the clear bra managed to save my paint, the impact of whatever it was put a small hairline crack through the lip.

Given the bumper is plastic, what are my options? Car only has 8000kms on it and is totally mint. I cant live it down, need to repair or replace. Can the plastic be repaired and resprayed or am I going to need a whole new bumper for something so minor?

I have extended insurance that gets me new OEM parts but I dont want to go through the hassle of getting a whole new bumper. Worst comes to worst, I need a respray and have to re apply the clear bra after the new paint is cured.

    Thoughts?

Show us some pics. I have a feeling that it could be repaired.

Yep! You should be able to fill it with bondo then have it resprayed. No big deal. The clear film can help a bit but not much with that. Is it xpel film. Also wait at least 60 days before reapplying film and if you do it might still lift the paint if you remove the clear film after you respray.

Yes, Xpel film. Crappy thing is I'll have to pay to get the bumper done again but oh well. It worked good in protecting the paint in this instance. Off to the body shop on friday

If it cracked the bumper all the way through but is flush when the pieces are touching you may not even need Bondo, you could try an epoxy on the rear of the lip. Bondo and paint may be needed though. Pictures would definitely help.
