Another recommend an ECU remap for the BiTDI Euro SQ5?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
At the moment I'm looking at the MTM M-Cantronic ECU remap but it's nearly £1500 (USD $2000)!!!

The ABT remap is listed at €4000!!!!

Anyone know of any others on the market for the euro BiTDI?

    Cheers

MTM is the best, since they claim 365 vs ABT 360.

Both will void warranty, although ABT claims to not be traceable because of its plug and play piggyback ECU box.....which may be a dubious claim....since I haven't seen anyone confirm that..

REVO & APR don't currently have a tune for the biturbo Euro TDI...

A German Tuner known as B&B has claimed to have produced a tune for the SQ5 TDI which produces 400 hp and they have a video on. YouTube.com

I disagree with you that the MTM is the best. From ABT get a complete new ECU, replace the original ECU and you can always return it.
Other companies flash the original ECU and lose the factory warranty. That is why extremely expensive flash from ABT
ABT cooperate with the VW group in many countries provide their services in the VW / Audi service

You may be right here spijun, the problem is the cost. The ABT ECU replacement is around USD$5000!!! Perhaps you get what you pay for but at £1800 (USD$3000) I might have to suck it up.

The MTM M-Cantronic is also an ECU hardware upgrade so can be removed just like the ABT option.

BB-Autotechnik don't seem to operate outside mainland europe so I'd have to take my car over there to have it done if I wanted to go with the flash option..

Thanks for the info, really helpful.

    Cheers

Op, depending on where you are, you could take your SQ5 to APR UK and offer to let them develop the tune on your car. APR likely only doesn't offer it because they have lacked the vehicle to grab the original coding from to start working on. Just a thought...and you may even end up with it all gratis in the end.

Piggybacks are a way of the past. I'd avoid that route if possible. An ECU reflash is vastly superior.

A piggyback will avoid a TD1 flag though keeping your warranty intact.

ECU reflash will require the ECU to be removed from the car as there is no OBDII flashing on the newer ECU's

The new TDI engines have protection, ECU must be removed from the car, then ECU modul it must be open, and then with special tools be read

I would rather a TD1 flag than a piggyback hacked into my ECU fooling what it sees. No thanks. I would only wait for an OBDII flash when it eventually becomes available. There's a lot more to performance tuning then tricking the ECU into making more boost.

There wont be an OBDII flash, it will be an ECU out of the car bench flash so you'd be waiting forever.

I agree that the best solution is a full map however given the loss of warranty and the need to remove the ECU from the car I feel piggyback tuning is a decent option.

I have ran one on my SQ5 for about 10,000km with no issues.

Sometimes it pays to be patient. This is good news for Euro diesel SQ5 owners.

Thanks Squash, I've asked my local dealer (UK) when this will be available and cost.. Might be a better way to go...

Yes, but still the question remains warranty. In Europe they are much stricter regarding ECU remap

Even in th US they have become more difficult when it comes to warranty and tunes, but I don't think Patu is all that concerned about warranty issues. His other mods would already cause potential warranty problems.

Nothing yet Mate. They just said they're getting server updates as we speak however not all models available..

I'm going into see them to get the suspension done so I'll ask more then, probably a couple of weeks time.

Just spoke to APR, they haven't actually tried the euro SQ5 map so don't even know if it will work, it may be the same as the normal 3.0 tdi map but until they scan a car to check its unknown.

Hope it works out for you guys. The calibrations are so vanilla from the factory - there's so much more on tap once things are opened up via a remap.
