Awesome! Thanks for stopping by our little forum! Even though I already have a VAG-COM, I went ahead and purchased the full app to support a developer who is interested in bringing this type of functionality to our cars. Should we also email you at [email protected] for feedback on features that work/don't work (like in my above post when I tried with my buddy's '14 GLI)?

Yes, definitely, please do email me about any issues you run into. I definitely want to hear about what settings didn't work on your buddy's GLI. Thanks for purchasing the Pro Package, too :)

I'm a car enthusiast myself, so car forums are kind of a natural habitat for me :) I'd be glad to hear any suggestions or ideas you guys might have about the app.

Just bought the pro version and signed up for the beta. works awesome, was able to customize the things I was going to shell out $350 for. My only wish is that is could reset the "service due" light.

Just an update, it seems like Version 2.2 has just been released and the beta period is done. They'll be starting the beta test for the next version soon which will include BMW and Mini.

Hey where is it that you found the ambient footwell lighting? I just purchased Carista and have v2.2 but can't find it... would really love that feature! also, what exactly is aux ventilation?

As they have developed the tool over time, they have removed items that don't work, so it might be dependent on your car.

Google allows us to enable so-called "test purchases", which let you make a fake in-app purchase without being charged. They get canceled automatically after 14 days. Just PM me or email us at [email protected] and we'll set you up.

If you make a real purchase in the beta, it'll carry over to the release version and vice-versa.

There are no "gauges" or other real-time data in Carista. That's not the focus of our app, at least not for now.

Also, to clear up some confusion, here's the breakdown of free/paid features:
Check/reset generic OBD2 codes: free, works for all brands
Check/reset VAG-specific codes from all VAG ECUs: paid
    Customize (coding/adaptations): paid
All paid functionality is currently available as a one-time in-app purchase of the "Pro Package", which currently costs $19.99 USD.

Your feedback on the beta version of the app would be much appreciated (either here or by email). Thanks!

I'll try and look thru the new release tomorrow and see what made the cut. Footwell lighting was just under the lighting section. Aux ventilation may not have made the cut either. It allowed you to set a time when the fan would come on to circulate the air in the car to help cool it down. I had mine set to come on 10 minutes before I got off work. Unfortunately most of the hot days had passed by the time I had tried it. I disliked you couldn't set it on a repetitive calendar and it wasn't worth the time to set it daily when I can roll down my windows from my office. As a side bug I also lost the function of the MMI displaying changes in fan, temp and heated seats.
It was worth it for me just for the sunroof closing function, I always forget to close it.

gotcha. damn i wish i had the ambient lighting available to me. with such dark tints it makes driving at night that much darker. I think having a little bit of light shining on the floors would make for a much more enjoyable ride.

Hi, yes, we removed that option from the beta and didn't put it in the final release version exactly for that reason - because we got some reports that there were issues with it, and overall because we didn't get enough test feedback on it with the beta. It will be reintroduced when we start the next beta period and I'd appreciate everyone's detailed feedback on it.

But to fix your specific problem right now, please PM me or email us at [email protected] and we'll help you restore the old setting values. Sorry about the trouble.

Btw, the situation with the footwell/ambient lights is similar - the setting didn't work on any cars we tried it on, so we removed it from the beta. The whole point of the beta is to experiment with new settings and confirm that they work before we put them in the public release version of the app. So we really need your feedback when something is or isn't working. Thanks.

    To enable Ambient Lighting:

Use Carista to enable the HIDDEN MENU. That's it. Everything else is done through the MMI:

    http://www.audienthusiasts.com/VagComINLight.html

If you have a b8.5 theres the extra step at the end: "In the hidden menu select car>carbusassignment> interior lighting *change from unassigned to "[CAN Komfort] 1/9"

PM me if it doesn't work. I did this awhile ago, took a bit of trial and error and I didn't document what finally worked.

I heard this but i believe you can only unlock and access the hidden menu with VCDS. Carista doesn't allow you to actually input code unless there's something i missed.

Just FYI, we used to have settings to enable the hidden menu on MMI 2G, MMI 3G, and RNS 510 units in the older beta versions of Carista, but we removed them before releasing v2.2 officially. These settings will be re-added in a future beta version and eventually released officially. Our next beta testing period will probably start within a couple of weeks.

Did you also go into MMI and enable them? Carista basically allows the MMI display to occur, then MMI manages the setting.

Yes, exactly - once you enable it in Carista, you'll have a menu in the MMI (in the CAR menu) that will allow you to activate opening the windows via remote. You may need to restart the MMI for that option to show up. Closing via remote should work right away, without any changes in the MMI, at least on US models.

I got one fault on 5F-Incorrect Software Version while trying to go online with Mini ELM327 via Carista, with Torque all was fine. I had to clear fault with VCDS, strange...

I used this BT ELM with my previous car (AR 156) without any problems Mini BT ELM!

    Hi there,
Torque would not show anything because it cannot access any VAG-specific ECUs like the MMI system (5F). Carista can, and it should be able to read and clear the same codes that VCDS can. Please check again. If you have a code for an incorrect software version, that cannot be caused by Carista and I bet if you had checked with VCDS first, you'd still have that code. Anyway, my point is that Carista and VCDS should be equivalent in the code reading and code resetting that they can do on the B8. VCDS has the advantage that it also supports older VAG models (even before 2005), but Carista has the advantage that it's easier and more convenient to use, being a mobile app that connects wirelessly, and also that it's about a tenth of the price of VCDS. Torque doesn't even compare at all because it doesn't do anything VAG-specific; it only has access to the OBD2 system, i.e. just engine and transmission. If you're having issues, please email me at [email protected] and we'll figure out what's going on. Thanks.

Hello, I saw the fault occur at the same mileage as on odometer, which means it was activated now while car was parked and the last thing I did was using Carista with that BT ELM. I am not saying that Carista is the cause, it could be the ELM since it is not the BAFX brand. So I should test with BAFX Bluetooth and see if fault occurs, but I doubt I will do this. Thanks for reply

I see, thanks for the clarification. I still think the ELM device couldn't have really caused that, regardless of its brand. The next time you check with VCDS, please let me know if the code is still there. My theory is that it's a code that always existed, and that will come on again every time you start the car (hence the current mileage), and will not go away until you update the software on your MMI or fix some configuration related to that, regardless of what tool you use. That's just a theory though. By the way, did you change any navigation-related settings through Carista or VCDS? Or did you just do diagnostics with Carista? Because the diagnostics part only asks the ECU to give it info on any errors it may have; it does not CHANGE anything on it. Thanks again. I'd like to get to the bottom of this and confirm that Carista is not causing any problems.

Yes, the app is very easy to use - you just need one ELM327 Bluetooth adapter and you can use it on all of your cars. The first time you try to change a customization, you'll be prompted to make a payment. That's it.

Just downloaded the app, paired BAFX and Samsung S3. It worked very well. Carista app is very easy to use.

However i don't see the foot well light and hidden menu options. Did I miss something?

I too would like to activate ambient foot lighting. Is this the only feature this Carista app can't access?

Edit: nevermind. I see it in the screen shots that were posted above.

I'm glad you like it :) The footwell lights were temporarily available in the beta version, but were removed when we did the official release of version 2.2. They will be re-introduced in the upcoming beta of version 2.3 (within a couple of weeks). To sign up for the beta, go here: http://www.caristaapp.com/beta/ (even though we don't currently have a beta, you can still sign up, and you'll automatically get an update through Google Play Store when a beta is available).

Nope, the app was always free to download, but you need an in-app purchase (currently $19.99) in order to use the VAG-specific functionality (i.e. customizations and VAG-specific diagnostics).

Yeah, those screenshots were from the beta. See my response above.
