    3.0T Oil Change DIY?

Either my search skills are failing me, or I there isn't an oil change DIY guide here for the 3.0T. I'm mainly curious on which tools I need and if there's any tricks to it.

    Thanks

There isn't one on the forum, but if you need an overview look HERE.

If you have never changed oil or just want to over prepare THIS is a video step by step.

DIYs are of older A6s, but the oil change process and location of the drain and filter are the same.

Thanks, it looks very similar to the 4.2 in the C5 allroad, which I've been used to.

On my 2010 3.0T it is the exact drain plug as shown in the thread linked above--it is allen, not torx. I thought it was a 5mm, not 6, but don't remember for sure.

he has good pictures in the write-up, mind the 2 "o-rings" for the filter can, note the orientation of the tab on the thicker ring.

Thanks much. Hopefully it's an allen for me, I already have those bits.

Easiest way would be to do a top end change. Get a suction pump that will go down the dip stick channel. Filter is located near by. Good luck!

I would consider a top end change but I live in the city with a small garage and no extra space to store even something as a pump for oil changes. Plus I still kind of like the idea of draining everything out.

I'm under there now----it's a 6mm hex, the ATF drain is the 5mm hex.
