Liquid Drops and a Sizzle sound....

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ever since my 5k service, after longer drives, when the vehicle is stopped, I hear liquid dripping inside the engine bay, hitting something hot and sizzling..... This continues for 20-30 minutes. Nothing smells like it's burning, there's no oil or fluid on the ground, yet it's still concerning.

Any thoughts as to what it could be? I thought maybe condensation from the air compressor dripping on the exhaust or engine, but that would be bad design and cause corrosion over time....

Things that make you go WTF???

Never hear that on my car. It sounds to me like some sort of coolant leak, but maybe its different in cali climate...

It's the metal in your exhaust and catalytic converter cooling down. No need to worry. The sizzle could be condensation from your ac condenser dripping on some part of you motor, or exhaust.

Edit: just saw you thought the same thing about the liquid.

^This. One of my other vehicles used to do the drip, phht, sizzle for 15 minutes after parking it during the summer - and it was condensation dripping on the hot exhaust.

Next time you're done driving with the AC on, park the car and pop the hood. Look at the AC pipe on the driver's side of the engine bay. Odds are the entire pipe will be wet with drops of water.

    This is normal.

This has been prior discussed. It is moisture on the A/C collecting into droplets and dropping on exhaust components.

With enough time everything will rust, even SS and galvanized steel.

It is condensation from the AC, same on my car. Especially on hot days after driving for a while.
