Any recommended wheel locks besides the ones that ECStuning sells?

They seem nice since it fits both conical or ball seats.

IMO wheel locks are a waste of money. If someone really wants your wheels, they are going to take them

Invest in good insurance not wheel locks. Roll with the punches.

I bought those back in the day when I first got my car, complete POS. If you want real wheel locks, get the bolts that require the special socket key (factory type?).

I bought a different set from ECS a few months back on 75% reduction closeout, with the multi-point star adapter, but as other have stated, it's kind of false security, as they only keep opportunistic amateurs from taking them at best.

exactly. I hate when cars have wheel locks when working on them. They are the biggest waste of money. No one really steals wheels anymore. And if you loose the key you better bend over and get some lube for the price its going to cost to have them removed.

I have a set of RAD wheel locks. Had a wheel bearing go out, and left my car at the shop thinking that my wheel key was in my dash. It wasn't, and my mechanic tapped and removed the lock bolt in about 30 seconds. Definitely opened my eyes to how easily these are defeated.

I went the insurance route for my wheels and skipped the locks. It added a little over $12 per 6/months to my premium for my Morr VS8.2s for both theft and damage (so even if I destroy one in a pothole I'm covered). If you put locks on your wheels and someone really wants them, you're looking at possible damage to the interior/exterior as they ravage it looking for the key and then they may do more damage to the exterior, etc. I'd rather the thieves just take the wheels and let me deal with just that vs also having to deal with a possibly damaged interior and windows.

I will never have wheel locks again. The key strips easily (under a year of occasional use). I didn't have the option of spot welding a second lug on top, or tapping, so I did some unspeakably ugly things to get it off. Then, I threw them out.

I'm not for wheel locks, but the factory set is the best and most secure.

How ya figure vac? I'm not overly familiar with them but I suspect the ones I have are at worst slightly better. Unless the factory have the slip ring?

OP, I ordered these from the UK since you can't find them in the US for Audi. Nearly impossible to drill and the slip ring negates the ol' small socket and a hammer trick. McGard Ultra SL. Reportedly (link not handy) an ex-thief was hired to try and defeat them. It didn't go so well. They had to resort to a socket powered drill and even then it took minutes of drilling just to do one.

And add aftermarket insurance if your wheels exceed the value of the OEM wheels.

Yeah the factory ones have a slip ring and they use a variety of keys (around 30)... Whereas locks like gorilla locks only use one key. So buy a set of gorilla locks and you'll have a key to everyone's wheels that use gorilla locks.

I'm not saying the factory set is unbeatable or vastly superior, but they are pretty good as far as wheel locks go

Oh cool, didn't know that (slip). Any idea what they charge for them? Mine were $65 plus another $10 or so for shipping, received about a week later. Still sitting in my living room lol. The chrome won't look right with my wheels so I'm debating the best way to change to black or grey.

Curious question? Would insurance cover you without wheel locks.

Sometimes they are sneaky and look for any reason to exclude coverage

Yes, they would definitely pay if they were stolen regardless. Just want to make sure you could prove you had that set of $10,000 aftermarket wheels on your car beforehand.

Yep. I've got plenty of photos and of course the receipt. My insurance carrier only covers up to $5g and you get the first grand included. From what I've read if you start pushing $10g+ you'll have to go through a special insurance carrier (basically for show cars and classics) and might be limited on mileage. I don't know if the ties would be covered under the standard policy or the aftermarket.

The factory ones are pretty nice. Came with my car but then came off weeks later when I added spacers.

That said I'd never have bought them and would suggest the insurance route.
