What kind or size car ramps work for our B8 S4 cars?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm just curious if anyone has used car ramps on your B8 S4 without scrapping the front end;and if so where did you purchase the ramps from? I have a auto zone and pep boys close to me which both sell ramps but I'm not sure if they will work. Anyone have any experiences? Otherwise I might just order some car ramps online. Look forward to your responses.

I use rhino ramps. As long as your car isn't lowered then it should be fine

Race Ramps makes ramps for low clearance vehicles. Lightweight and great quality. Pricey though.

Could be a silly question but with our cars on these ramps is it high enough to get underneath the car with a oil pan to drain the oil?

I was able to change out the brace to the eurocode brace so I would think you would have enough room

Wow seriously about "installing the eurocode brace" on the ramps. I thought that was a big no no. I have a Alu Kreuz that I haven't installed yet. But my point is aren't you suppose to install the Alu Kreuz using jack stands or obviously a lift and not on ramps? sorry to get off subject for a second.

Cool. Just didn't want you to hurt your ride. How hard is the install for the endlinks and sway bars? Just curious for my future other mods.

Front sway bars and endlinks weren't bad on the ramps but I would recommend doing the back swaybar and endlinks on jack stands. I believe you'll need two same size wrenches for some of the bolts.

Nice to know that I could do the install myself. The sway bars and endlinks will be in the far far future. Next on the list is some ramps for oil changes and getting around to installing my Alu Kreuz with jack stands.

There's a posting in one of the oil change threads where Swank says he does oil changes with his car flat on the ground. Amazing that he can do that....ramps work great for this purpose though.

shouldn't a sway bar install always be done under load?

Not sure. I just went with what was in the eurocode install instructions. Where they said that the sway and endlink install can happen on jack stands if you are not using the factory endlinks.

Choice of endlinks is the determining factor. When you compare the two it's obvious why. I didn't do endlinks for my sway install and honestly wish i had JUST so i could have had the car on stands instead of ramps for the extra space.

I'm rocking Rhino Ramps. Rear no issue. Front is a little tight with clearance. I'm lowered though.

Nice those are the ramps I'll probably end up buying. I am not lowered thankfully and think I should be fine with these ramps.

Clearly those are rebadged Race Ramps. Great design, absolutely no movement when you roll onto them. The two piece ones are slightly more but definitely worth it for the added flexibility.

weird, every sway bar install i have done has made it very clear that you need to have your car under load in order to not mess up the alignment, but maybe the s4 has a modified subframe or something fancy and german that it's not the case.

    eitherway!

OP, right now, rhino ramps are on sale on amazon for 44.99 with prime shipping (i think) and if you are worried about not clearing the ramps, buy two 2x4's at home depot and lay them on the beginning of the ramps, as I write this I see how redneck it sounds, but honestly, it's not unsafe to do so, you are basically just extending the rhino ramp to get your clearance.

Just picked up 4 12" race ramps tire cribs. Should leave more than enough room to work on most items.

Or, you could invest $85 in an oil extractor and leave the car flat on the ground.
