Fram is $11 and Wix is $28..
Which one is better? What can be so different between the two that would justify the price difference?

i couldnt tell you the difference between the two, but i know fram is crap and wix is a higher quality filter. Ask any garages and im pretty sure most of them will tell you that they use wix products. Fram=Autozone Wix=Carquest Carquest parts are always better. You could always just go for the Dealer air filter.

your guess is as good as mine. just call up the dealer tomorrow and they will know. i dont think it would be any more than that wix filter if not a little cheaper.

i know i wont go with a k&n due to it being a oiled filter. Tiny oil deposits dirty up the MAF sensor and screw things up. On the 4 runner the ex had it was a problem twice over a period of a year and a half, and that was with a paper filter. The MAF sensor doesnt like k&n. If you want a high performance filter i would suggest going with a non oiled one. However i think i will just stick to the factory filter.

i was gonna say the same. as long as you dont overoil it during a cleaning interval you should be good. i've had a K&N open air/cone for about 5-6 years and no problems. just dont go crazy oiling it up

I do have K&N and the reson why I'm going with paper one is because some 2 weeks ago I started getting rougher idle. My idle g/s went from 3.5 to 2.7 (dirty MAF), this is with only 18K miles on the car and some 10K with K&N.
