A/C suddenly stopped working

2013 S4 5500k miles

So I was leaving work the other day and it was bloody hot out so naturally I fire up the AC, but after 5 mins or so I notice it's still blowing out warm air. The AC button stays lit but no cold air. Does anyone know what this could be, or if it's a common issue? It's under warranty so it's not a big deal but I was just looking for some insight before going to the dealer

I do. Sux to be you thats what lol. No i don't know. But start the car turn on the A/C and open the hood and see if you can see if the A/C compressor clutch engages and the compressor is spinning. Their is a plate on the front of the the compressor in front of the pulley and only spins when the clutch is engaged If the Clutch is engaged with the pulley the problem can be one of 2 things either the blendoor isn't working right but thats unlikely since their are 3 of them in the car. The other thing is that the compressor shaft broke.

but if the compressor isn't engaging at all it probably an electrical problem somewhere or you lost all the freeon and have a leak somewhere

do you have it to the setting where its pulling fresh air or is it recirculating? My car had the same issue and I changed it to recirculate and cold air began to flow.

Had the same thing happen to my A6. My car however, was idling with the AC turned on max. It was explained to me that the unit can freeze up if not moving. After about 5 minutes worth of driving (not stop and go), it started blowing cold air again.

I gave it a solid 15 mins while driving and it was a no go, it used to blow cold without recirculate on but I'll try that after work.

I've only had it for about a month someone traded it in. No idea how the previous owner barely drove it but the car was flawless inside and out

My car did the exact same thing 3 years ago...just stopped cooling. Fans and all other aspects were operational.

It surprisingly came back on the next day...no issues identified by the dealer.

However, this all happened in the first week after my tune...so may have been an adaptation issue.

It should blow cold air without recirculate but for some reason i had to turn it on and then wait a minute and turn it off, after that it was fine. It hasn't happened since. I would ask your dealer anyway as thats what Im going to do just to put it on their radar.

Could be so many things... You can pop the hood and listen for the AC compressor to engage/disengage when you turn the AC on and off. Could be a blown fuse as well...

Either way there is no reason on earth why your AC should not be running with so few miles. Unless you got in an accident and they didnt repair your car properly.

I had same thing happen a few months ago on mine, 2013 with 12.5k on it. Took it to dealer, AC sensor or something, whatever it was they fixed it in a few hours and it was under warranty. Maybe it's the same issue.

You shouldn't need recirc with these cars unless its above 95 and sitting in stop and go traffic. I never use recirc in any of my audi's since the a/c uses a TXV system and is very efficient and doesn't need recirc all that often. The freezing up happens sometimes but shouldn't happen all the time. I can see it happening on very humid days and such. But the system should prevent that from happening.

Could be a low or high pressure switch, if that goes out the car wont run the compressor to prevent damage.

In case anyone was wondering, took the car in today and it was the AC Pressure Sensor that was faulty. It's running well again now

I think there was a TSB for this on the A4 as well. I had something fixed on my last service under warranty.
