    BlendMount and Valentine 1

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just ordered a Valentine 1 and thinking about a mirror mount for it.
Could someone share some pictures of Valentine 1 attached to a BlendMount bracket on a rear view mirror?
How is visibility with this configuration ?
    Thanks in advance.

Have a stir plus on my S4 but on my 335i I had a v1 on a blendmount and never had an issue or visibility. Always perfect quality!

Escort instead if valentine but should be similar. It's great, I don't even notice it there unless it's alarming. Highly recommend it.

Thanks. I am goig to order mine very soon. Do you remove your Escort when you leave the car or it stays mounted all the time?

I just leave it. I pushed the mount up as far as possible so it's kind of a pain to take out the detector.

i think a blend mount with the mirrortap would be an awesome application for a dashcam setup. I suggested this to them the last time i talked to them and I think if we all show interest, maybe they'll get one to market quicker.

I have the MirrorMount from Amazon w/my V1 which is hardwired. Mounts perfectly to the mirror and looks great. Here's a crappy pic

I've set my v1 above the right side of the rear view. It fits snug with the standard suction cups and then I run the power line across the windshield and down to the OBD port where it connects to my savvy device. I have my steering wheel set a little lower and in that gap i have my V1 concealed display velcroed in. I've had this same setup in my last B6 S4 and even when some punks smashed my passenger window to steal stuff from my car, they didn't even see the radar, all they got was my ipod.

I think the below the mirror mounts obstructs your view a bit, and draws some attention to the radar.

It might draw attention to the radar but i don't notice it obstructing my view.

I've got mine to the left of the rear view mirror and up near the top of the windshield, using the suction mount that it comes with. Not ideal as you can't pull the visor down all the way, but can pull it far enough down so the visor is vertical. Nice thing is that its not as visible as the mirror mount = less incentive for someone to break in and steal it.

I've got mine hardwired into the overhead console where the lights and sunroof controls are. Did the same on my Q5 as well. Zero issues in the 5 years I've had it mounted that way in the Q5 and none so far in the S4. Seems like its easier that running a cable over to the fuse box.

Blendmount came out with one that fits the S4 mirrors? How did I just now hear about this? Any links on the best place to buy, and I'd like to get ahold of that discount code as well please.

What is better and why a mirror tap or hardwiring to a fuse box?

I got the mirror tap (not installed yet) just because it seemed much easier than running a wire all the way to the fuse box.

Why are these mounts running for $129 on Amazon? What am I missing that makes this so special?

I'd never display my radar like that...especially in VA which is illegal to "use," not to own.

I'd love to hear the answer to this question. I use the suction cup window mount, mounted directly under the mirror. It looks cleaner, easy to slide the unit out when I park at the airport. I have no large contraption clamped to the mirror. By the way, the suction cup mount has NEVER fallen off in over 18 months of use. Even in the hot Florida weather.

I have mine lower on my windshield also using the suction cup mount. I've also never had issues with it coming off.

However, I don't like having these visible and I need laser protection so I am going for a passport 9500ci. Which I wish has a $129 mounting solution.

Mine is hardwired to overhead console and mounted on passenger visor with factory clip mount for easy in/out. F/R range does not seem to be affected at all, only downside is my wife complaining that she can't put down visor when sun is in her eyes. I tell her ( nicely ) that is what sunglasses are for.

Is BlendMount worth $129? I can't seem to get a straight answer for this.

    Any other options people prefer?

I have the $25 Radar Mount from Amazon and it seems pretty good so far. I have the suction cup version installed right now until I get my second V1 for my wife's car and can hardwire them both. I also have the mirror mounted version but haven't played with it yet.

I don't see why people even bother buying this...the suction cups that come with and mounting above the mirror is more concealing to me. Then you can just grab the switched 12v off the home-link.

Permanent 3M mount up high FTW. Used a MirrorTap as well for speedy install.
This config allows use of the covercraft sunvisor w/o midification. (Needed in TX even with my windshield tinted)

Anyone have a good tutorial or page on DIY for hardwiring these? I have the Passport 9500xi (which is fantastic, btw), but would love to hardwire it in.

I'd suggest buying a add a fuse and running the wire down the A pillar, I have the wiring diagram for this radar and can send it too you.
