A lot of your questions on the dip is probably already answered in that thread. So last time I went for something close to a matte version of Audi's Daytona Grey, which was my main inspiration last time, and this time I'd say it's probably closest to a Audi's Volcano Red color (http://i.imgur.com/9nd4OA3.jpg). I originally planned to do it in a deeper, darker red, but ended up going with this instead and I actually am liking it much better, much more of a unique red and it really stands out even among other red cars.
This isn't like the normal plasti dip finishes you might see, I'm not a big fan of the fully flat/matte colors on a full car, looks a bit dull IMO. But this color has a lot of range to it since I used a mixture of a few different red pearls and flakes, and also mixed in some plasti dip gloss for a nice satin metallic effect. It came out very nice and smooth and you would think it's vinyl the way it looks and shines.
For the most part it's like a red with a bit of an orange hue to it, in the darker shades it looks like a darker red sort of with a burnt orange look to it, sometimes even a slight pink-ish hue to it. In the direct sun it really pops and has a more orange-ish look to the red, and in the dark it goes from a red aluminum type look, and sometimes to this red-ish copper/rose gold type look, just depending on the lighting.
But I'm really happy with the color and already getting a lot of compliments and looks. Hopefully the pics below show all the different shades, I tried to takes pics in as many diff lighting situations as I could, but even then the pictures don't really show it off as well and it definitely pops more in person. You can see below in the daytime pics how it's bright, but in the more overcast pics it's darker, the car wash pics below you can see how in the low light it has this nice satin red look to it, and in one of the last pics how it looks in the same spot but with different lighting as the sun went down. Let me know what you guys think!
- Roof, I left in the factory black paint
- Wheels and side mirrors are also plastidipped, in a custom glossy gunmetal type color
- Front splitter is wrapped in a matte aluminum vinyl, but I'll soon be re-wrapping that in a black chrome vinyl
- Front grille bar is in a matte grey, but I'll be re-doing that in a satin/glossy black soon, along with gloss black fog grilles
- I'll be putting a very light smoke tint film over the headlights and taillights soon, nothing too dark though just the lightest tint I can get
- Will be installing coilovers and adding 15mm spacers to the rear wheels next week
