    bought this slammed allroad

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
so i bought this allroad with blown suspension and cut spring up front rode like shit so went in to switch out to a6 suspension. when i was under the car i noticed the transmission pan and tranmission cooler lines were craked and bent due to the car being so low and the bounce from the cut springs. i think the previous owner did it on the drive up as it was not "leaking" when he had it. went ahead and replaced the tranmission oil pan and filter plug engine oil pan

so my questions is can i just replace that section of the line with a fuel line and some clamps? is it high pressure?
i have found the whole line but it looks it insert on top of the tranny not somewhere i wanna try and sick my hand

    Holy shit.
    Seriously?
OEM only. Or good luck with the hit-and-miss trans cooler line fab. I think if there a way to save $5 on trans cooler lines Audi would have done it.

    Wow...
Those are some pretty decent hits...

You can PROBABLY replace just a section of the line to get you running till you source the full size line. I dont know how that line runs but im sure its a PITA. If you can get to both sides of the lines then I would say replace the whole thing. There are plenty of these cars being parted out privately and by parts houses to be able to get that line for a decent price. Oil pan might be a little bit of money but you dont have a choice..

Replaced both pans already 120 for tranny 40 for oilpan . I found a replacement original line for only like 100-120 which is not bad but the access is really hard .

Really wanna just replace that section with rubber or something but don't know enough about the fluid preaaure and heat and what not

The problem with replacing the line with rubber (other than the obvious) is if you suffer another hit like this after (hopefully) raising the car up a couple of inches, you piss out all your oil in no time flat.

Do it properly the first time.

i dont think being low was the problem i think the bouncy suspension was the reason it bottomed out

For things like this if you cut corners you will be doing it again. I personally guarantee it.
Trans is 5hp 19 right? If so I can get you those trans lines...might be a few days...but I think I can get them pretty cheap- but they should be cheap used anywhere you get them.

I have lines for a 5HP. But like you said getting to the connections on the trans is probably a HUGE PAIN IN THE ASS! I can take a look at my extra trans since it is out of the car and maybe I can help with some info. You may be able to remove the snub mount and worse case rear subframe bolts and prop the trans down enough to get the clearance you need to get lines on and off the trans....seems legit...lol..

Even if it is a pain... Rollerton is right! Do it properly the first time and in the end it will be less work in the long run.

Do you have kids you can TRUST to get their tiny hands in there? I've used my 8 year old to replace a hose before...nothing beats child labor, or a cheap lego right?

looking at it some more i can route the new potion tucked up on the bellhousing or tranny. then if i hit ...which once i set up the suspension right wont be an issue..... itll hit the pan..... just playing with the idea of the bandage some more as replacing the line is straight forward

You should definitely do it properly the first time and put a manual in it! I might have those lines for cheap I'll take a look. Might have crushed them by accident...

You can keep bumping the thread forever. Nobody is going to tell you you should run rubber lines because it's a stupid fucking thing to do.

You could have replaced it by now...

I could not have replaced it by now because that means dropping the tranny for access . It's not my daily driver so I'm looking for other options thanks for your advice

I want to do it right but have limited time to fix it right and just playing with the idea. I mean people run rubber lines when they switch to an aftermarket trans cooler

Gonna make you guys proud. Went and got new front suspension since they had cut spring up front it destroyed the shock so it needed to be replaced after using what u needed to get rid of the air ride. While I was there I took a peak at a couple transmissions and luckly found one with the lines still in tact, and also noticed a new way to get at the bolt that holds them in! Sometimes it looks impossible but there's always a nice trick or way around things in these cars. Looks like ill have to remove the axel on the driver side along with some of the heat shelid for the dp! Will update! Thanks !

B and w auto dismantlers in Roseville ca were able to help me out and show me a couple cars and transmission to not just get the parts I need but a action plan on how to access the parts in the vehicle for replacement . You'd be surprised how much these guys learn from dismantling haha . Lots of Audi with lots of meat on them .highly recomend them!

so finaly got around to switch the tranmission cooler oil feed line off the tranny. had a hard time dealing with stripped screws on the heat shield covering the cv axel. and had to trim a bit off of the dp heat shield but i was able to snake it out!

when theres a will theres a way! thanks for everyone who convinced me to do it the right , but diffiuclut, way
