    Adjusting Exhaust Tip Height?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have one exhaust tip that sits lower than the other. It's really obnoxious, and it's killing my OCD. I don't want to go and throw some washers underneath the hangar of the higher one to have it match up. There's about a half an inch difference between the two. I was just underneath it today, and all I saw to pull apart are the two hangars and the cross-brace.

Any suggestions on how to even the two out? I'd prefer to raise the lower one, but I'm open to ideas.

You could always do the tankdeer mod....He used zipties to get the tips to rise.

If you want to get them even, just replace both rubber pieces on the bracket.

Tankdeer mod was wildly successful. I'm hoping that the zipties hold up under the suspension and the heat. We'll see how it goes, but I'm happy for a 5 minute mod!

It is actually the center cross bar right after the dif that needs to be adjusted. Giant pain in the balls by yourself.

where did you guys attach the zip ties to bring the exhaust tips up? i just installed my CTS exhaust and one tip hangs lower than the other no matter how much i adjust the center cross bar...im thinkin I could try replacing the rubber on the hangers, but id like to try the zipties first...just wondering where you attached the zip ties, meaning where are they secured to on the exhaust and where are they secured to on the car? thanks

so you zip tied from the metal hanger on the exhaust to the hole in the rubber hanger? do you still have the metal part of the exhaust inserted into the hanger? i tried to do zip ties like that and it didnt raise it all...

edit: can anyone confirm that this fits? it seems like a lot of sites confirm its fitment but it looks different than the hangers I have.. the base of it looks curved where it should be flat?

Phil do you happen to have the P# for the rubber? is it the same on left and right side? I see europaparts has both hangers on their site but id like to just replace the rubber part if I could. in my post above I linked a vaico hanger that supposedly fits the b7, but it looks different. Thanks.

Yes, basically follow where the rubber hanger goes but with the zipties. Leave the hanger in place, just add the zipties for a little additional support. Been running them that way for 6 months without issue.

you need to loosen the clamp between the downpipe and the exhaust system and rotate the exhaust so you get even spacing at the rear, it works.
