To Buy a 2014 S7 or RS7 ?

Hi guys new to the forum I currently have a 2014 a6 tdi and 2014 q7 for the wife and I am thinking about upgrading to either the Rs7 or S7 both full optioned so i guess it comes down to whats going to be the better car I will most likely keep it for at least 4-5 years I'm sure most will say just do the rs7 if i can but is it really worth the extra money ? i have driven the rs7 but not a s7 yet any opnions would be greatly appreciated. also witch will hold there value the best ? thanks guys

I'm pretty sure the consensus will be to go with the RS7. It's quite the machine!!

Not exactly a equal comparison, but you can BUY A S7, get the extra 100 hp thru APR, and use the cash saved to buy a brand new jeep patriot for your snow/rain car.

IMO, it's hard to justify the premium you pay for the RS given pretty subtle difference between the two. It should hold value better long-term %-wise, but you'll probably lose more $-wise if you sell it. Drive the S7, then the RS7 back to back and decide for yourself if it was $25k better of an experience. Not at all saying that RS isn't a fantastic car though.

Thanks for the replies so far guys. its kinda of what I've been thinking. it is def a big price jump over the s7 but the look is also a bit more aggressive on the rs vs the s and of course the hp difference. the rs I'm looking at id the Nardo grey with CF package. its retail is 125k. vs the s7 at about 82k. I won't mod the car at all i just want to get in and drive it. or at least until the warranty is up :) Is the real world MPG pretty close to the same on both cars even though ones a 7 and ones a 8 speed ? during cruising long distance of course. decsisons decisions.

Money is relative so only you can make the call. You get the peace of mind of not modding a car and getting 560hp on tap sans mods(as you alluded to). The interiors are different but not a big deal for me; I went RS7 because I want to tune it even further and the S7 wont get to that limit. I also like the aggressive styling that comes with it- this discussion could be easily applied to BMW too and some of their models vs M. Again its more of pricing thing for me and if money is not an issue I would say RS7 all day with the Dynamic Suspension :)

If you plan to mod or prefer a faster car RS7. Otherwise S7. I bought an S6 and realized I want more power than the S6 could handle so I got an RS7.

You will have to test s7 and rs7 but rs7 everytime. I have s7 and i have ordered s6 but it was mistake after rs6 and rs7 test drive;)

Its worth the $$ to me. The RS7 is nuts fast and while I would like even more differences in the looks it is aggressive enough. There are a lot of small details that make the RS special over the S. I'm not sure how important a stiffer suspension is to you but the non dynamic package RS7 is too soft to me (rolls in turns and nose up on acceleration that I personally do not think an RS car should do). I re ordered to get one with the dynamic package and it was worth the extra wait and it is very adjustable so it can be soft or rock hard. My car was a bit less as I left off some of the tech and the B&O to get the price down. I'm not a big audio nut in the car so the Bose is just fine to me. I bought the RS for the engine and transmission not the stereo so I did keep a few dollars off. The car is a pleasure to drive. I am now driving it daily and it makes me smile from ear to ear. Oh the exhaust crackle.

Can't compare them personally because I went straight for the RS7. All I can say is I love the car more today than I did the day it was delivered. It's a great white shark in a sea of penguins and seals.

Well I drove both and it was a hard decision for me. I live in Florida where my daily driving conditions would never take FULL advantage of the RS7's power. I love the power and looks of both the S7 and RS7 - I really love the RS7's rear diffuser. Too me for my daily driver and with my two kids, the RS7 was just too much car for me everyday. I went with a Exclusive color, heavily loaded 2015 S7 which I hopefully will see late August or Mid Sept. The money was not the issue and also with the 2016 facelift coming I wanted to leave room for maybe a facelifted version down the road, need be. It all depends on what you want and need.

I'm biased but here's my two cents: RS7. I went with the RS7 (Suzuka Grey). My daily driver. It lines up neatly next to our loaded 2010 Q7. Having both gives us the option to choose how we want to drive: low and fast or high and lug a bunch of stuff). I'm gonna latch two jet skis to the back of the Q7 one day....real soon.

Thanks for all the great replies guys. While you guys where posting I went out and found a s7 to test drive and drove the RS7 again I was looking at :). End of the day they are similar in looks but the little diffrences plus the big power difference sold me on the RS7 witch I'm now a proud new owner of :). I love the car its amazing in every way drives great awesome power Dynamic mode in manual is just so much fun. thanks for all the great replies guys. I go the Nardo grey I personally love the colors others don't like it witch is fine with me lol just need to get the windows tinted and she will be good to go. Any one know a good shop in oc ? Id post some pics but don't see how other then from a url ?

Not sure if this is your daily routine but you do know that Drive-Sport or D-S is the best and fastest mode and it completely changes the car's dynamics. I wasn't sure based on the pic you posted here from your flickr account where you were on the street.

Yea man sport dynamic for sure is the best mode. But was just cruising with the girl down pch in sport it doesn't really like to go slow :) I actually usually have it in individual set up

when you put the car in drive, pull the lever back towards the rear of the car one more time..... the exhaust sound will change, throttle, shift points, baaaaaaaaaaam your car just got faster LOL.

In the center display between the speedo and rpm gauge you will see D-S versus just D.

Guys So I have a small well maybe small issue. The dealer put Ibex protectant on my car on the out side and inside. upon inspection yesterday i could see faint swirl marks that you would typically see in black paint like when you use an abrasive rag or go through a cheap car wash. The inside of the car they put the protectant on and it was super shiny and sticky and said it just needed time to soak in. I left the car again over night for them to re detail the out side and work on the inside. theres two things i hate on the inside super shiny armor all look and smelly. I now have both. So i went back agin today and theres till swill marks all be it faint on some areas and less of the stuff inside but its still oily and smells like the shit they put on. my question is two fold one does anyone have any experience with ibex or similar. or two should I have them buy back the car from me as they have now offered to do or three they also offere to pay for me to take it anywhere of my choice to have it detailed and they would pay for it . Id be really bummed to get rid of the car but am super bummed at the interior especially now. the shitty thing is i can't even find another one excatly like this one or id have them trade for a new one. not sure what i should do.

They did that to my car also (it originally had been at another dealer who already had applied the product to the seats before my dealer did a dealer trade for the vehicle). Although my dealer did offer to remove the protectant, they weren't able to "fix it". I discovered on my own that rubbing alcohol completely removes the protectant and brings the leather back to the factory matte leather look. I had tried various other leather cleaning and conditioning products and none of them worked, but the rubbing alcohol did the trick beautifully. I now have about 7k miles on the vehicle and it the interior smells and looks new. It took me about 2 hours to completely remove the protectant, so you may want the dealer to do it for you.

this is the reason that for every new vehicle i buy i tell the dealer to not touch the paint period. i ask them to hose it off but no touching allowed! it's nice to get a new car with no damage to the paint :)

Dealer wants to buy my car back from me. was able to remove some of the excess IBEX material but its soaked into the leather so much its not ever going to all come out i almost got it matte again but the smell in the car is just afuwl really sucks this happened. I told them to get another car that was the same and untouched even showed them were to get one and they Basically told me no go somewhere else and buy one. nice after spending over 250k in the last two weeks at that dealer. unbelievable looks like most likely this car will be going away :(
