S6 exhaust- which one

Hello all
I have a 2014 S6 (traded 2013 s4), and am a little unhappy with the exhaust note. I would like a little lower, little louder exhaust note at idle and at start up heard from the outside of car, but as little increase as possible in interior sound and absolutely no drone. Seems the most common choices are between the AWE touring and the Milltek resonated. If anyone has heard both live, please comment.

PS multiple upgrades on S4, trying to have some restraint with S6. Its hard. especially reading this forum daily. You begin to imagine everybody has done something to their cars.

Milltek and AWE are the common and easy choices. Personally, I would choose Supersprint, MTM or Akrapovic, but you will definitely pay $$$$.

The one of the best v8 sound you will get from HMS steel exhaust with valves but it is only cat back system. MTM is not exhaust producer so you should find another company, Milltek resonated version is not so loud as you expected, so race version is better.

Personaly im looking for 3" titanium or ss exhaust but you will have 2be happy with yr S6;)

I have the Milltek - it's probably the closest thing you can get to the stock exhaust note but louder. I've heard AWE too, and it also sounds good, but a bit throatier.

I'd consider the Milltek non-resonated version over the res. On the non-res setup, we deleted the rear silencers. Sounds awesome outside the car, and doesn't drone in the cabin. Perfect for daily driving.

Hafta say I really like my AWE as well. Have not heard the Milltek in person. sounds better and better as it breaks in. When you are off the pedal on the highway, it is quiet. When you put your foot in it (especially with tune at 100 octane) it howls in a wicked fashion

AWE--Love it! Sounds even better if you add an APR flash.--Sound is very quiet in D not so quiet in S or in M. Depends a lot on how far you have your foot into it.--Sound is more Lambo than muscle car-- Mustang,Camero,Dodge. Higher pitch. NO drone in any positions.--Point of interest. I just drove 1500 miles on mostly open roads. 68.5 mph ave, 28.5 mpg ave. A lot of "D"time but also some fun "S" and in "M" Mostly 91 and a little 92 octane.

I'm too debating between AWE's system or Milltek's non-res exhaust. Is there any performance benefits in addition to the acoustic improvement with Milltek's? Thanks.

I went resonated for 3 reasons:

- I got a phenomenal deal on a used one (less than 1k on it before owner upgraded to an RS7)
- 2 small girls in the car frequently. I've done a loud exhaust in the S5, and in don't want to go there again
- I can always remove the back boxes in the future (just like what milltek offer) should I want it louder

Having my milltek resonated titanium exhaust installed on my S6 by dealer in AM. Will give feedback after a few days of driving.

We offer both Touring and Track editions on several of our Exhaust Systems. However, not all systems get a Track Edition, as it depends on vehicle and demand.

I had Milltek on my previous S6 and loved it. The only issue i had was it wasn't easy installing with the stablizing cross bar underneath. I had to have it adjusted a couple of times until it was perfect but all in all, I was very pleased. I also debated and it came down to AWE vs Milltek and I chose Milltek. I don't think you can go wrong. With all that said, on my current S6, I'm now debating on the Brinks option if and when that becomes available PM TheChef who has a few posts on this. I'm going to wait until that's available before I make a full decision. My dream exhaust would be Akrapovic but I haven't convinced myself yet on spending that much.

I got to hear Milltek and AWE next to each other. Milltek sounded okay, stock note but louder not very aggressive.

AWE on the other hand sounds aggressive, while at the same volume as the Milltek.

Both still leave my car with that Audi refinement while giving it more presence. If you like the stock flat sound I'd go with Milltek. If you want to actually hear that V8 I'd go with AWE.

I am waiting for the Milltek Valvesonic system to be available for the S6. I really wasn't going to mod the exhaust, but the valvesonic may just do it for me. I had Milltek on my Stage 3 B5 S4, as well a custom built one-of-a-kind quad tip Milltek for my B7 RS4. Sound was great. Could have used a little better finish work, however, since the rear cans were visible from behind. I ended up having to paint them with some high temp paint to get the look to be acceptable to me.

Akrapovic is probably the highest quality exhaust system available for almost any car. Sound is exceptional as is build quality. But, be prepared to pay serious cash. If you are willing to pay this much, take a look at MTM also.

I don't want an exhaust that is going to draw attention when I don't want it, and yet, I want to be able to enjoy the sound for myself when I want to. I also want to be able to shut the sound down for long trips and when I am with the wife and kids. This is why the Milltek Valvesonic is looking appealing among the lower priced exhausts.

True - But my father (Mid 50's businessman) drives the TAG S7 much more than I do, and he asked the same thing before we fitted the AWE System. He asked if we could do a system that would keep the factory valves. I told him we would find a solution and until then we can fit the AWE System and get his impressions. About a Year and 15k miles has gone by, and i mentioned to him last week that the new Akrapovic Valved system is coming in a few weeks (pre-production) and he looked at me - said "I love this AWE System, please dont change it - its perfect." He said he loves the sound

To be honest, this is not like an RS5 or a 458 where the factory valves really make a noticeable difference (in my opinion).

As i remeber MTM is not producer so some company makes produtcs with MTM logotype. MTM has not very good opinion in EU because chip box modification for 2500 euro is big mistake and have better tuners. Every mods costs a lot of €€€ but effect is not good as you can write on mtm website.
