Possible To Update Maps/Nav on 2010 Audi A4 & MMI Firmware

I've done a lot of reading on this topic and get different stories on this. Can I download the latest maps and install it on my 2010 Audi A4? I have the MMI with USB slots and a CD as well in the system (not sure if its DVD or not).

Also, how do I go about finding out what the latest version of the MMI Firmware is? Took my car in today for regular service and asked them to update the firmware as I've noticed some subtle differences between my wife's 2012 Q5 and 2010 Audi A4 in terms of voice prompts etc. They said I already had the latest which I find hard to believe given it's a 5 year old car unless it was updated previously.

Any suggestions/feedback?

I would think the 2012 would be different then 2010, but that's just a guess.

Did you ask for the version number. Post it here for urs and I will check with my 2014 b8

Thanks for that thread. Took a while to get through it but looks like there is a more updated firmware version as well as maps. There seems to be a tonne of confusion as to whether the dealership really has updated maps and how much each dealer charges can really vary. Wish there was a way to update this myself. Seems like it would be easy enough as my mmi shows an option to update off cd or USB.

I remember researching this but never got around to doing it. You can make a updated DVD but you need to either have your vag radio code or dealer code to open swap dvd's if i recall correctly. Not sure what the updates maps included.

If your DVD is locked u can unlock it for free at the dealer or if u have vag com u can do it by yourself.

I bought new maps 2014 not so far ago (250$) and If u want I can make u a copy for 20$.

you can updated 3G MMI NAV units via DVD? Pretty sure that was dealer only...

I was listening to xm radio and I got back in my car after work and xm band option dissapeared. I have am FM but no xm. Have you done a hard reset on the mmi?

Mine does something similar. I get back in the car after a while, and its tuned to a different station. It looks like it's on the a preset FM station, but it's on a different one. Like JBAeroEngineer suggested, I always do a hard reset (like a cold reboot on a computer) and all is well.
