VCDS boost log.. Is this right?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just bought the car on Monday. It came with an aftermarket exhaust, a (ugly) Reiger body kit that has Rennen stamped on it, and a Rennen Tunning badge on the side of the car.
I decided I would check the boost to see if it actually had been tuned.

I measured block 115 from a 2k-6k 3rd gear pull. Atmospheric pressure atm is 30.07 inhg, which converts to 1018 mbar.

    I got a max boost of 2370-1018 = 1352 which equals about 19.6 psi...

The average looks around to be around 2000, which would equal 14 psi..

The graph itself looks good, atleast to my un-trained eye. The requested boost and actual boost are almost identical.

Did I do my math/procedure wrong? Or am I actually getting a 19psi peak and around 14 psi avergae?

I read stock was around 9.

Here's the data from the log.

You are correct. You do not have stock tuning. What color are the fuel injectors?

The average is lower than the peak pressure numbers because the boost on a stock turbo tapers towards redline.

    They're blue.

If they're actually blue, that means they're for Stage 1+ tunes, correct?

You can check to see if you are running a stock intercooler or something upgraded. You can also check to see if your coil packs and diverter valve have been upgraded. Take a picture of a coil pack or at least post the part number on the coil pack and someone can tell you if it has been changed out. The DV is a bit harder to see. If it appears to be metal it has definitely been upgraded.

Is there anyway to figure out what type of tune it is?

Intercooler is stock. Coil packs are definitely stock, via the part number.

I think I can see the DV, but it's kind of awkward because the hood strut is bad..

Open up VCDS and goto Engine -- Meas. Blocks -- hit log, type where you want to save it and hit start when you're ready

I used my Google fu and found out about the F11 key in excel.... did I do this right??

Unless you're pushing like 100psi, I don't think so.. haha

Post your .csv file you opened in excel and I'll make a graph

Gray is requested, Yellow/Orange is Actual, and Blue is RPM

I've never seen a stock graph, but you're looking at around 8psi all the way across.

When graphing log data, the X axis should be the "dependent" variable, usually RPM, and the Y axis should be the logged data of interest, in this case, boost pressure in psig or bar units. The scaling of the graph is important for showing the detail as well. If the scale range is not wide enough, details in the data, will not be shown in the graph. I don't see boost pressure on any of the graphs Y axis or RPM on any of the X axis of the graphs in this thread so far. The X and Y axis variables are setup in the graphing application or by the arrangement of the spreadsheet lines vs columns.

    Could you show an example?

I thought putting RPM on the y-axis was good, and showing boost in the same. So you can see what boost compared to your RPM in a straight line.

When you do logs you want to start from 3rd gear and pull to redline at WOT(Wide Open Throttle).

Here's a graph I made from the log you sent me.
