    00819 Issue - not a sensor

    hi all,
a month back my car got stuck win an 'Econ' mode and I ran VAGCOM to find that I have a 00819 issue.

Following online instructions I have replaced my G65 sensor but the issue did not go away which leads me to believe it may be a refrigerant issue. As I have no idea where refrigerant resides on my car, I have decided to turn to you fine gentlemen.

    My car is 2007 Audi A4 2.0TQM S-line Titanium

    running VAGCOM i have a:
    2 Faults Found:

00735 - Potentiometer in Positioning Motor for Air recirculation Flap (G143)
    09-00 - Adaptation Limit Surpassed
    00819 - High Pressure Sensor (G65)
    07-00 - Signal too Low

the first issue only arose after i went into basic settings of VAGCOM, while the other was the reason why i went into the basic settings in the first place.

my pressure measuring blocks are the following:
A/C Valve (N280) current is 0, so is the duty cycle
    High-Pressure signal (G65) is 9.5%
Refrigerant Circuit pressure is 1 bar

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

You are out of refrigerant. You can try recharging with an A/C recharge kit. They are very straight forward to use and come with detailed instructions. Unfortunately it may not last very long, depending upon the size of the refrigerant leak. Give it a try and see if your A/C starts working. If not you will need to take it to a qualified A/C shop.

    Hi old guy,
Thanks for your reply. It's my understanding that 2007 A4 refrigerant is R134a. I have also read somewhere on the Internet that here in Canada, only certified shops can purchase it. For this reason I may need to take it to my mechanic. I just hate the prospect of shelling out $$$$ for something that I could have done in minutes.

    Thanks for your help.

I wasn't aware of that. Bummer. This weekend just take a quick road trip to the nearest Walmart in the States and you can apply the kit in the parking lot. No tools required. Takes maybe 10 minutes.

Bumping this because I have the same issue. Put a new sensor in because the old one cracked and was leaking out all my refrigerant. Checked my pressure and was literally zero. Refilled it to the proper level according to the gauge and still have the econ light.

The only code I have is the 00819 open circuit|short to ground. Checked all my connections and it seems to be OK. Looks like the wiring runs up through the fender so it would likely need to be removed to access it and check for any problems further down.

Only other thing it could be is the sensor is faulty. I went with an aftermarket version as I didn't really want to spend a ton of money that might not fix my issue.

    Jason
