Wheel suggestions for C7 S6 - Black with machined face? Polished?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hi guys, I'm itching for some wheels for my 2013 S6 in Estoril Blue. I currently have the stock 20" wheels, but I'm looking for something more aggressive to enhance the subtle styling of the S6.

My eye is drawn to polished silver (not chrome) and black wheels with machined face. I like the look of the BBS RX-R in black with machined face, but the styling is a bit "old" for me. I had an E30 M3 in 1988 that had similar BBS wheels lol.

I'm comfortable spending something in the $2k range for the set.
I know the deep concave is the new style, but I'm somewhat partial to the deep-dish look with a staggered setup because it looks stout when done properly.
I don't want to go larger than 20"
My car is currently stock ride height, and will probably stay that way.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be grateful for pix and suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Here is a Pic of the BBS RX-R. Black with machined face.

    those look really nice.

The only thing I could say is that less spokes and more open shows off the huge brake discs and calipers better. The stock 20s do a pretty good job of that actually, and with some spacers they really do look good, matching the brushed mirrors about perfectly.

But I think those would look great on the car...

I totally agree about having less spokes! That's what I'm looking for and can't find...

I'm tired of the stock wheels. They get dirty so fast, and they look too subtle to me. I need more of a sports car look because the rest of the car is very subtle as well.

AG wheels are nice but the M series lacks the lip you're after. And they are slightly concave. I was very impressed with the finish I got on my wheels. Even tho I had them for a very short time.

Your main issue is your budget. You are not going to have an easy time finding the type of wheel you are looking for in a fitment for the S6 with your target pricing.

On the other hand, if you like this look, it is well within your budget:

These wheels cost $325 each. They come in Silver, Gunmetal (as shown) and black. One one hand, as my S6 is my daily driver, I was hesitant about putting on premium level wheels. On the other hand, I felt somewhat odd about not putting premium wheels on a car of this caliber. Quite honestly, at the end of the day, I love how these wheels look regardless of price.

I just got these used 20" HRE FF01 Flowform while I wait for my premium wheels to get back to me (damaged and ordered a new set of p101) and I have to say I really like them. Had a fortunate turn of events and traded my stock wheels plus cash for these.

I wish I had known how good they would have looked before I spent so much on the other ones. (Although I know I am gonna love the new ones when they get here). They are about 3 k for a set but if you can find a used set, they can be had for around 2k or maybe less. Nice offset, much lighter than stock. If you buy new, they are available in quite a few finishes

Damn those are sweet. I've seen a few with these, I like the gunmetal the best. Masks the pesky brake dust.

Great minds think alike, (or at least those that always pick the most expensive, nicest things!) Those are the ones that I have on order. List price is 9600 for the set in 21. 20's are a little less i think. Dealers can discount a bit, but you must inquire within. Brushed/Tinted like I am getting is 250 more per wheel, list.

Go to the gallery on HRE site and enter that wheel and check out the awesome pics. You can also specify finish.

Around $2000 each depending on finish and center cap. HRE are simply amazing. I have owned a set in the past. They are just not for a DD car in the Northeast, however. I already have a few tiny nicks on my two of my wheels. They are tiny, but on a $2k wheel, I would be pissed. On a $325 wheel, I can just replace it whenever I like and have a new wheel here in a few days. The HRE FF line is a great option. Just wish they had more styles.

OMG, $9600... I'd rather piss gasoline on a camp fire. In NJ, those would last a month.. They are too beautiful to destroy.

Back to the drawing board then.... Any thoughts on just painting the OEMs? I LOVE the black metallic flake paint on the C7 corvette. I forget the name but it is the accent paint they use for the Z51 package on the mirrors and a couple other spots on the car. It's a really nice deep black with light blue and silver flakes...

Or, this one? I think I've come full circle on this: VOSSEN® - VVSCV4 Matte Graphite with Machined Face and Ring.

I think they can be made to fit any config. The P101 are my second choice.

I can't even afford the FF's right now. 2 Audi's and 2 mortgages and a 1 year old have us strapped!

Is it any S6/S7 C7 user with RS6 21" wheels? I wonder to set up 21" OEM set for my S6 but I couldn't find

Not a fan of the black/machined silver look personally. Too much clashing there for me and they look decidedly aftermarket. I'd recommend either an all silver in a shade appealing to you, or a light gunmetal like the Hartmann RS4 reps on VVG's car.

    BR,
Be warned, some are complaining of easily damaging wheels with the extremely short sidewall. Personally, Id stick with 20's. Ive already lost a wheel to a small pothole.

OP: As Dennis suggested, our FlowForm wheels start at $2900/set but can be had used, for a bit less in the classifieds section. Best of luck!

We're adding another FlowForm style in the fall, stay tuned!
What is the strength difference between a forged and FF? Or is it purely a weight thing. And with that said, do you know what the weight difference is between the FF and stock 20's?

I remember a guy in another thread said he weighed a 19x9 flowform and got 25.4 pounds. As I recall, I think the stock 20 was 33lbs? The Chefs P101 21x9.5 weighed in a trim 21.8 lbs!!

I am sure that HRE man can give more exacting strength facts, but they are all up to TUV standard. THey may be around the same strength when done but as you can see, it seems forged is able to attain that standard with much less weight, seemingly revealing the greater inherent strength of the forged wheel.

I talked with Audi service specalist about 21" fitment to S6 and he claimed it will not be correct ET value with RS6 21" so I will try to make decision about new
set of forged wheels. Do you know modulare wheels company? Anyone has opinion about Modulare - www.modularewheels.com?

We will unveil the FlowForm addition later this year. We will not be moving up in size.

The strength difference is significant. We have managed to maintain the weight of our smallest FF01 (19x8.5) at 22lbs.

We firmly believe this process of creating a cast wheel is the best in terms of producing a wheel that's lightweight and capable of withstanding daily stresses and a few pot holes :) Also, as safety is one of our top concerns, as Dennis mentioned, our FlowForm wheels are JWL/TUV certified.

My car came with summer 20"
For winter tires, I used 19" Konig Interform: https://konigwheels.com/wheels/flow-...els/interform/
They look great (slightly concave), and the switch from 20" to 19" made a huge difference in how the car feels - it does not jump on every highway joint anymore, and handling is great. This is not a car I would drive at the limits of handling anyway (you may):

So I'm in the same boat! I hate to be like everyone else. iv been talking to a few company's and there all saying the same thing you can't have a big lip rim on these cars because of the high offset. Well iv had lips on my previous Audis with spacers on the front to clear the brakes because big lip rims have flat faces. It's gonna be trial and error so I'm gonna test fit rims with spacers and find something that works then order my rims to what I find out. No one in a s6 has a big lip on there because of this reason.
