Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Guys I know many people might know this but i didn't.. so i just want to put it out there. Today i went to audi for the cam follower replacement, then i got a car wash for free! So I asked the guy how much it was, and he said for all audi owners are free washes as many times even if they did not buy from audi dealer. I was like then lol maybe your audi dealer might be far ass hell but mines 2.5 miles away from home So people that did not know this now you know good luck guys and lets get this spirited drives going on

I would never let the dealer wash my car and I specifically ask them not to... And almost all dealers (not only Audi) do this nowadays...

Agreed. If I wanted paint swirls I would just have a monkey go to town on my car with a gritty sponge

I think this means unlimited free washes, but as written this makes no sense.

They just drive your car through a car wash with brushes.

    Always opt out..

I never have problems with mine after the wash. Only thing they left behind each time were water marks from wet chamois.

Unless the person washing the car at the dealer is super nit picky and doing it by hand, I can almost guarantee you that they aren't using proper wash techniques.

Yeah, i ask them not to wash as well, last time the tire dressing was all over the wheels and tires (this was my first drop off and didnt know they intended to "wash" my car). Wheels are still stained from the tire dressing.

It's great if you don't care how your car looks. Last time I went to the dealer, I was very clear about them not washing my car. They washed it and fucked up my paint!

Ya I wouldn't let them touch my car. I know for a fact both Audi dealers in Phoenix has contracts with touchfree car washes near by, which do nothing but ruin your paint.

No way it's burned into the glass. Steel wool and acid (foaming aluminum brightener from a pro car detail shop) will do the trick.

This. If steel wool doesn't take care of it by itself, some white vinegar will usually work also.

That's not hot enough to melt glass and etch waterspots into it.

Are you sure you used actual acid? And steel wool? Out of highschool in the old days I detailed cars for a living. I never met a waterspot I couldn't remove.

    Maybe they used acid water?

Last time my car had a very minor service at the dealership it went in fairly dirty and came out looking professionally detailed! I went to Flow Audi in Greensboro after a terrible experience from another Audi dealership. Maybe they wanted to go over and above after I towed my car almost 2 hours to them and told them the story. Inside and out looked amazing and I am a former detailer so I know a rush job. They definitely hand wash there, I saw them cleaning another car in for service when I picked it up. I guess it depends on the dealer.

This is a different brand from what I used, but it looks very similar based on the description. Same color even. http://www.biokleen.com/acid-wash

Basically, we would just spray some on a piece of steel wool and start lightly scrubbing the windows or mirrors with hard water spots. Just be careful not to get it on anything else. It's powerful shit. Was great for chrome spoke wheels too.

Dealership wash= high pressure rinse + wipe down with dirty towels. Dealership detail= same process + grease up anything that's not painted with armor all.

    No thank you.

Although I would NEVER let the dealership or any other "car wash service touch my car I think you misunderstood them... or maybe I misunderstood you. I don't think you can bring your car there JUST for the free wash, you would have to get a service done and they will wash the car for you... and by washing I mean rinse with special audi water that causes more harm than good.

This. I'm pretty sure that just owning an Audi doesn't entitle you to weekly free car wash at the dealer of your choosing.

One way to find out... Dalmatian, drive into your dealership next week and simply say that you're there for your free swirl marks (I kid I kid), carwash, and report back. ;)

Speaking of hot windshields. I tried to wash my car when the glass was hot. Now my windshield has a bunch of cracks in it. Sad day.

I normally end up washing my car a few days before service, they never wash it because they know it won't come out any better, problem solved Only time a place has done a surprisingly good job was when I was having a door ding repaired. Car came out spotless with the interior cleaned up too

Just to pass on some information to those that have had bad experiences with car washes... they ARE NOT all made the same.

For example, I manage a tunnel for Costco that uses Macneil equipment. (Yes... Costco even has Car Washes!) Macneil, before merging with Ryko, was considered the #1 manufacture in the world for automated car wash tunnels. Now that they have partnered with the #2 company in the world, their equipment pretty much dominates that high-end market. Some of the lower end car washes use equipment from manufactures like Sonny's (the Wal-mart of the car washing world).

As a matter of fact, before ANY Audi leaves the factory, it's run through a Macneil tunnel. Bet y'all didn't know that!

My B7 A4 goes through my tunnel AT LEAST twice a week, and its been going on for a lil over 2 years now. I think its fair to say it gets more washes than the average Audi owner... There are ZERO issues with my clear coat or paint.

So, to those out there that swear-off all car wash tunnels... maybe take the time to visit a site and ask the manager about their equipment. Find out what manufacture they are using and base your judgement off of that.
